    Wireless Joysticks & Controllers: POLL

I have now tried wireless for loooong enough.

In my not very humble opinion, it just aint good enough.

I'm gutted. I was soo hopefull that wireless would be good enough in 2005. But I have now used both Saitek and Logitech wireless, and the fact is....

it doesnt cut the mustard! and I'm gutted, cos I was SOOO HOPEFULL to start with.

The issue is with a number of inputs at once. I have been flying IL-2 in single player missions and online for about 10 hours now with the Saitek Evo Wireless and it simply refuses to do certain things. The hatswitch can't keep up with multiple inputs, you simply have to wait a do the action again, and then it works.

I use the buttons on the base plate to change view points and they don't action quickly enough either, and with all the other things going on I just don't need the worry of knowing I cant look round and change view, and fly all at once without delays in input.

And worst of all.....and I thought this was not going to be an issue but it is....other peoples wirelss things effecting mine.

SO, I'm interested to know how many people HAVE wirelss sticks (or game controllers) and actually rate them highly.

    Poll time.

I Have the same aitek stick, and i dont notice any lag, although i tend to only use it for bf2, so no real multiple butting pressing.

    <hijack on>
Does anyone know a way to get thehatswitch to work in bf2? I can only find options for mouselook, which is not what i want.

I've used a variety of controllers over the years and always end up for some reason going back to my trusty XFX wired "x-box style" PC controller - even when playing flight sims - wierd I know, but seeing as I've used my xbox to the point you could class it as abuse, this controller seems fine for a bit of everyday gaming

I know the xbox360 is having wireless controllers and this might break my regime of using the wired PC controller but I have always had a little voice in the back of my head whispering " what happens when the battery levels wear off .... does the signal "break" up and the data transmitted starts to "fall" off.

The issue with Wireless and "multiple inputs" is nothing new though Zak33. Wireless keyboards have the same issue as Carlh found out. He was playing counter-strike and being the little "oompa-lumpa" he is he was trying to crouch, while walking and going forwards. Would his Microsoft Wireless media keyboard allow him to do this?

Would it hell.... everytime he pressed the 3 keys his character in game would react by dancing like Bez out of the Happy Mondays across the map into the nearest wall that was available.

I wonder if the same scenario will happen with the new consoles and their wireless controllers if it does I hope they make wired pads available asap.

I had it worse man....while Clingy's son was playing Counter Strik ein the same room as I was flying a vital Czech War online with the MA_rlins, my plane kept inverting and throttling to zero while Clingy Jnr was doing the Oompa Loompa walk on his Wireless Keyboard!

Never tried a wirless joystick for sure, but i've had a wireless setup for my mouse an keyboard for a LOOONG while now and I love em. I can do the oompa-loompa in CS.... but I have "walk" bound to a mouse button. Using the original flavour Logitech wirelss k/b (shows how long I've been using it) and the wireless intellimouse explorer from MS.

I bought a brand new Logitech one but took it back, something wa deffo was wrong with it, the joystick believed it was pointing top left when left in the netural position along with some other calibration problems. Took it back and ordered the cheaper wired out, works a treat, shame I still can't fly in BF2 though

Going wired for keyboard and mouse in my soon-to-be upgrade too, cant really justify why I bought my Logitech Cordless Desktop MX just over 2 years ago now.. havent really used it away from the desk at all.

Wireless virgin here, but I fail to see the point of a wireless joystick.

Surely the whole point of something being wireless is that you can move it around and not necessarily have it next to your computer, now a joystick needs to be used in conjunction with a keyboard, and has to be located on a solid flat surface, so the best place for a wireless stick is always going to be right infront of you on your pc desk, the only inconvenience being the usb cable connecting it to your tower.

My point is that for flight simming (in particualr) you won't be dogfighting people in any other position than at your desk in front of your monitor, where wireless becomes... unecessary...

Yes, very close to, if not upon release...

In fact, the only next-gen controllers I've seen so far are the wired ones... only ones I've used too..

I have a wired cyborg evo and am well happy with it. However I game with a logitech mx700 and am not entirely convinced its as responsive as I would like. It may however be my general badness at computer games!

I have the MX700 mouse and can pull some cracking shots off now with it

I find its responsiveness is good - but if you need better a G5 is more suitable
