Its the way it turns...COS of the engine being mid mounted....
you can get an MR2 to turn like a snake BUT if ya yank it too hard it understeeers like a biatch
On the P39 the wings slip and lose grip on the air if you turn it TOO hard....but if ya balance it.....it turns really tight
Obviously the MR2's downfall is that it has no CANONS
but its a fair comparison otherwise.
And the Rear Wheel Drive thing...made me laugh.....imagine a P39 with a rear mounted prop![]()

and on the engine front that makes all modern jet engine planes RWD then. Can you really drift a f16?

F16s are computer controlled for stability, without that computer control I bet you could perform some interesting movesOriginally posted by TiG

The Mig29s and Su27s don't have the same level of avionics, so they are inherently less stable that their American counterparts, and as a result of this are able to perform the 'cobra' - a manouver that only a plane with a lot of thrust at the back could do.
You can get the back end hanging out in a turn flying the IL2 tho, just go into a fairly flat turn at a good speed, and kick the rudder right over - it'll kinda fly sideways for a little bit![]()

not strictly true, the thrust wouldn't melt the back end, the flames would tho. Thrust doesn't have to be flammable, sure its probably not goint to be as efficent, but it could be done

Yeah but it bleeds speed quicker than a full set or aerated discs with superglue coated brake pads and an elephant stomping the pedal.
Oh and TiG, though thrust doesn't have to be flammable, its pretty hard for it not be damn hot. Even if you were using a ramjet, air friction would get things pretty smoky quite quickly.... (hair now not just split, but finely diced too..)
p-39?
did someone mention my planei really need to get back in the air ya know i fancy a good furball
