That's pretty good. (Similar score to 9600Pro/GF4 4600) Would expect higher from a 9700 upwards.
I assume that is with out AA and AS?
I think some of it might be my ram, it's fairly crappy generic stuff - mtec chips I think
The gfx card is a softmodded 9500 @ 297/297, can't push it any further without artifacts/lockups
I'm holding off on anything better than the 3.7cats, but I know the later ones give a bit of a boost to the 3d mark score..
I guess here is the point where I start saving for better ram and a slightly better gfx card lol

TBH, the state of the windows install can affect the result. It's not a bad score for that card. May sound daft, but have you tried benching at a lower speed, sometimes running on the limits can have negative effects.
Ram shouldn't effect the result. The Speed at which it is running at will however, as will the FSB.

"It is impossible to strike up an intelligent conversation with an inanimate object."
Most important stuff for IL-2 Forgotten Battles, in order, as I see it.
Ram......much as possible...the speed of it is secondary (PC2100, PC2700 etc) if its small amounts. 512 minimum....1 gig if poss.
Vid Card.......be canny with your settings, both in the Vid card display properties AND Il-2 settings....get a consistent fram rate.
Processor..I have a choice of 4 at the mo...have run Il2 at fine game play with a 1gig Duron Power is not that important, my Radeon 9800 pulled it along fine. The improvement to a 1700XP is notable and above that, not that much better....have a 2800 now...not noticable over the 1700 at all.
Sound Card: the patches are getting the sound better and better...but what you can hear is really important now, as Clingy pointed out, hearing a 109 on your wing probably IS a 109 on your wing Going from a Live! (original) to a £30 Hercules made Deckard smile tho
Motherboard....the benefits of the nForce 2 board are quite good, with dual channel memory system, BUT it aint vital. (Skii saw a boost getting a better mobo, and it's not Nforce, and Deck hasnt got nforce but going to 1 gig helped him most)
AND a fresh install of XP regularly is vital....AGREED
