Detail Settings

FOr the record: am still trying to get what I believe to be a "great value" deal.....in the mean time.

Hat says he runs IL2 with reasonably low settings.....800x600 etc.

I have had a tweak with my machine

I have knocked my PB and Motherboard down to 133fsb DDR with a multiplier of 11.5. Thats gives me an XP1600+

I have installed my "spare" video card....a Radeon 9000....its got 128mb of DDR runnning very slowly (relatively)
Its CORE is 250 and its memory ar 200, so 400 DDR.

Not a fast card by todays standards.....

BUT it runs IL-2 at 1024x768x32bit at HIGH QUALITY with no hassle.

SO what does it LOOK like?

OK.....1024x768x32 with all settings to LOW in IL2




Same game, just re adjusted the IL2 settings to HIGH QUALITY.....

now forget the way the setting sun is shining on the wings and the metal screen edges, ......there MUST be a benefit to LAND ATTACKS when the vid card will draw that much further ahead

Dont forget...this is not Anti Aliasing etc.......thats the BIG DOUGH cards.....THIS IS SIMPLY A SMOOTH, MORE DETAILED IMAGE......which is BOUND to help your piloting skills

and then UP THE IMAGE QUALITY in IL2...remember.....BOTH are at 1024x768, which is already more detailed than 800x600

now before anyone gets smart and works out trhat I have hosted these files in a file called Rad9800Pro.....dont worry..its just where I dropped them.

It is a Radeon 9000 normal....vanilla.,......boring......and it works a TREAT

ok... lemme give it a go on max settings and resolution available (note I cant get "perfect" as this is greyed out.. only available for gf4 and above i think).. and i shall let u know results and wot i think.

umm I tried that last night... offline, without server lag and stuff like that... it was terrible tbh

I then tried with the settings I usually play at on my "framerate killer" map ie over berlin in a 4 engine bomber and 100 Wirbelwinds going at it full bore in my general direction. Went down to about 6-7fpm or maybe less....

yeah.. i dropped to bout 11 fps.... less when over a city and stuff...

Anyway... gone back to my trusty setts for the moment.. too knackered to actually try different options and write bout it and stuff
