    Talking Guild Wars : Cantha

Well I have taken Connor over to Cantha but not done any missions as of yet except arriving there from Lions Arch. Heres the first screenie I took inside the city :

First 2 enemies I have seen were level 20 beasties that kinda looked like a cross between the headcrab zombies on Half Life 2 and The Flood from HALO.

As you can see from the shot it has a very Asian feel to it with the oriental style pagodas rather than the Arthurian type landscapes and castles you seen in chapter 1.

A bit later tonight I will be online in Cantha so if anyones about that wants to have a run about outside the city gates give me a shout. For anyone that doesn't know my name ingame I'm under Connor Shadowbane !

Just done the first mission in Cantha and it took 40 mins to do. Complete onslaught of plague carriers / creatures that were all level 20 ! To top it all of there is also a band of Assasins that have a habit of dropping from the rooftops when you least expect it !

So far I have to admit very interesting story albeit at the minute its the same old Guild Wars but with different settings. But as the old saying goes why fix something that isn't broken, its a tried and tested formula that works and has reignited my passion for Guild Wars.

Hope to see a few of the HEXUS Guild members in Cantha soon and possibly a few new members as you don't have to own the origional Guild Wars to play Factions, its a standalone 2nd chapter but you can cross characters over from one continent to the next. if you have both games

I will be getting this after my exams, and should be on quite a bit!

Haven't played GW properly for a while now...

We need to do some grouping again, those UW runs we did were well fun.

Yohji, Can you pop on for 5 mins and reappoint me as Guild Leader if you wouldn't mind.

I have done just the first mission on it now Stoo, where you have to keep Togo and Mhenlo alive and fight the onslaught of the plague, it was bedlam with a team of NPC's only but I managed to pull it off nicely ! If you want to meet up give me a shout ingame and I will do some missions with you, my lvl 20 warrior can blitz through most things !

I agree, the ring of fire missions do get a bit samey after the first 2. It has a really good ending though I must admit, worth getting through for the final battle with the Lich alone.

I love the story on Factions what I have seen of it. I may even try one of the new character classes.

You go to Lions Arch and speak to the skill guy on the steps with the lions, he tells you to find Mhenlo. Go outside the gates and hes there. Go back into Lions Arch after talking to Mhenlo and go to the docks. Speak with the woman there and you get transferred over to Cantha.

    Simple as that !

I'm considering getting this after the exams have finished. There are still a few things left to do in Prophecies - bonuses, Furnace of Sorrows, Titan quests. However, I did find out today that it is not only possible to do Thunderhead Keep with just henchmen, but to do the bonus as well. For the missions, I just need the Iron Mines and Dragon's Lair now.

I bought Factions and merged the account with my 'Prophesies' account, so now have a total of 6 slots. But I was really disappointed to find that if you do this you don't get any extra storage space! So now I've got 6 characters sharing the same storage as my original 4.

I really liked the 'starter island' in Factions. It is very fast paced and you can level up at a remarkable speed. Some very hard quests there too. However, when my new Factions characters went to the Cantha mainland (and when I started to bring my Prophesies characters over from Tyria) I was VERY disappointed with the relatively dingy, claustrophobic atmosphere of the urban setting. I hope there are some more expansive 'countryside' settings to look forward to, as there were on Tyria.

I've created a Ritualist but I'm finding it hard to get to grip with the Ritualist skills which seem to be an unhappy cross of monk-support and ranger/ele spirit creating. I think I'll dump my Ritualist and try an Assassin even though assassins seem very unpopular in the PUG's.

    All-in-all lots of fun though.
