To those saying it is boring, I agree, ot those saying it is great and addictive, I agree also. Me and my friend call this "Morrowind Syndrome", being that both games (Morrowind and WoW) are addictive when you're sat at the computer, wanting to get more gear which is basicly the goal of the entire game, but when you analyse what you're doing, it is just repetetive boring clicking. What gets to me is the most fun is to bed had in the community, but if you can only muster up a few hours a week then you have no chance of doing anything with other players properly.

And I can answer why, its because its about as challenging as scratching my armpit, and thats assuming I don't have to take off my jumper first.

There are no mmorpg's that provide any real challenge anymore, the only thing that keeps people playing WoW is the PVP, ie the same as quake deathmatch... And unfortuantely, i'm not really into PVP.

Need a game that has challenge, then you can feel a sense of acomplishment.

I didn't like the PVP much but the game kept me engrossed for about 6-7 months before I moved on. The content kept me going for most of it. I guess people play the game for their own reasons.

As for challenge it depends on what you do, equal level nems rarely provided a challenge to my Pally, taking on nems and quests above my level, that gave me the challenge I needed.

At the end of the day there's no point trying to convince someone who doesn't like it that they should like it. A friend still tries to convince me I like Eve.

    I don't btw

Still need a key? I have a couple (unless the 2 I sent to Stevecliff got used in the end - he had a US copy, which obviously was no good with EU keys!)

Drop me a PM if you still need one.

    Listy,

I doubt we could get away with playing from work (which is a shame) as we are located right next to the MD's office.

Scan have a forum on here therefore as this is a work related site there is no problems with us posting on here (all day if needed)

But SURELY you wouldn't dream of sending out your high-end graphics cards without some form of stress-testing first Carl? Ah well, that's my best excuse...worth a try

Argh! I think I'm doomed to get WoW up and going - just when I thought I'd found a way to trial for 10 days without paying anything

I applied for the key (and got it, once the site eventually let me!) and then started the installer. They don't make a biggie about it using peer-2-peer technology to download patches do they? Although really not keen at all, I opened my firewall for the appropriate ports and let it do it's stuff. Checking the screen out it was coming down at around 60-200k per sec (my lines maxes out around 250kish so no real problems there I guess).
Went to my Everquest PC which was sitting trading and OMG - the response was really *really* bad! I've had downloads running before at 200kps with no particular slowdown at all - but it appears that the WoW downloader hammers the upload almost flat out as well as trying to get the download down. IMO this is an absolutely crazy way to set up the downloader - in order to retain any form of usability elsewhere (bearing in mind that this download was going to take in the order of 4-6 hours!) you *have* to limit the upload speed else the whole thing grinds to a halt!
So, after checking the online help, I disabled the peer-2-peer setting ...... so far (after re-trying it 3 times to make sure) in the last 5 hours of downloading directly from Blizzard's site I've got ...... nothing. Nada. Zip. No response from the direct HTTP at all .....
They do allow you to download the latest patch directly from various mirrors, but of course that means you have to buy the game first and I really am not spending £24.99 on a game that I actually only want a free 10 day trial on to see what it's like!

I think I'll stick to Everquest ... as much as we all moan at Sony for some of the things they do, at least there software co-exists nicely with all the other online stuff I do (admitted, there is a lot of 24 hour stuff I have going on which I guess is slightly more unusual that Joe Bloggs Normal User - whoever that is these days!)

Ok, finished rant now ... please feel free to ignore and go back to what you were having fun at
