Its for those people who want to play a game but can't be bothered to start from scratch I guess, they just want to jump in with a ready made character so they don't have to jump through the hoops of getting quests done and "grinding" their stats.

You are right though, to me it seems utterly stupid.

let me tell you...I've been playing for 3 weeks and I'm at lvl22 and it's been a hoot

To get to lvl 50 will take me months now....and it's for FUN!!!!

oh I agree, I have been playing Oblivion for almost 70 hours over the last month or so and I have reached level 19.

Its been an absolute blast getting there. Finding the best balance for your style of gameplay and the attributes of the race/class of your character is a major part of the enjoyment.

Having levelled monsters keeps the playability there but once the main elements of the game have been completed then yes its time to look elsewhere.

I played Diablo and Diablo II to the point where it got boring as my stupidly high level character could kill anything with two or three blows.

Not played Lineage so could not comment on how that progresses.

Lineage2 progresses brillianlty...it must do...I keep meeting people online who've been playing for over a year

Every week the servers run new quests, new Festival's, new games, lottery, hunt the Easter bunny etc

and at lvl 31 as my mate is, he dare not even tread in some of the harder area's of the far reaches of the map.

It's a long termer this I think

The end game to Lineage2 is pap

Once you hit 50 and complete every quest, there's nowt to do. So you start again. Repeat until nausea kicks in, then stop playing.


Dark Age of Camelot is the same, though the pvp is pretty good on that but has been spoilt rotten by lamer ganks and the dev's adding uber items, making some, and only some, people pretty much invincible to anything.

It's not so bad IMO, I've sometimes wished I could just get leveled up without putting in the time. But this is on my 2nd, 3rd and 4th characters in WoW, I would never want to do this on my first character. I already have 3 characters at the max level (60), and going through the game again gets tedious sometimes. But I play mainly for end game raiding, as I find this most fun and challenging, and this can't be done at lvl 1-59, only 60. So playing different classes in raids means you need to level them up first (around 8 days '/played' time).

The main problem IMO is people using this service and jumping onto a max level character without a clue what to do, joining in your groups and playing like total crap, these people are pretty easy to spot. But after having extensivly played my rogue at level 60 I learned a lot about the other classes I raided with, enough to jump onto a level 60 character of any other class and know how to play. In WoW I'm not bothered about missed the experience of leveling up, since I've been though the process 3x now, and the game at level 60 is a lot different to the game at 1-59. (btw, I haven't used any of these services. $250! no thanks, i'll do it myself )

I can understand it in WoW, If you have spent time leveling a character or six to 60 then your guild decides they are terribly short of a class or you just get bored of the class you have leveled. Many people have the money but not the time/inclination to level to 60 again through the same quests taking up weeks of their lives. But then WoW starts at 60.
