I'm here... just me PC isn't well, mainly due to me being a muppet and being rubbish at installing OS's.... Thought it would be nice to have a good clean system free of all the clart I've collected since May.. this morning the darned thing started switching itself off randomly. On my 3rd try to install the OS now, never mind the vid card - although that did install and run like a dream last night. Think it's mainly down to a dodgy HD format meself - proof will be in the pudding in about 20 minutes I'm thinking.

Thread hijack alert. What type of shooting do you do Tumble? Have .22 semi auto rimy, air rifle and shotgun myself... Do you do any lamping with your rover.

Update!! Bloody thing's not working.... went to run a 3D benchmark after i got everything in and it turned right off. Think I might need a new PSU after all recommendations?????

I went mad a little while ago and got the bloo 550watt enermax with the fan speed doodar, it's been great so far

But when you said turned right off, nothing on the screen, no power no nothing, or just a reboot?.

it just turns right off... everything.. as soon as it starts any type of 3D operation.... and it won't turn back on again - you have to unplug the power cable for a few seconds..... gonna put the old card back in see if it works, then try the Radeon again...

Right,,,,,I know you've ordered a PSU and frankly thats a damn good idea.....it will be a good solid thing to base the next couple of years PC's on

BUT....for NOW....as you are on fresh installs.....

Take out a HDD
Take out a CD drive.
Reset CPU to default.
Use one stick of mem.


and see if it will run....

ALSO...for the record....TRY turning off Sideband addressing on your MOBO in BIOS.

then turn it off in ATI control panel too....

if you get it running all of a sudden, undo your good work ONE BIT AT A TIME till it dies....dont do lots of stuff in one hit.

it's now not turning on at all PSU made a few clicky noises before it died the last time..... just gonna have to wait for the new PSU to land.. hope it won't be long.....
