    Unhappy Help Setting Up IL-2

    Thought i'd see what all the fuus was about so i picked up a cheap stick (Saitek ST200), and a copy of IL-2. Installed it, patched it to 1.2 and got settled down for a play. Trouble is, it bombs out as soon as it starts (on the Ubi Soft screen) . Is there anything i should know about configuring it so it'll even start?, PC spec in sig...

    Hmm, ok.. This is IL2 and not the sequel IL2: Forgotten Battles yes?

    First thing is to check DX setup and patch eveything up to the latest (stable) version.

    Try running the game without your stick attached, and see what happens there.

    If still no joy, knock hardware sound and gfx acceleration down a notch and try again.

    Also, disable FAA etc etc. Basically, cut the system back to its basics, see if it'll run and then start adding stuff back in from there.

    sounds from that you've patched IL2 (the original flavour) to FB 1.2... interestingly enough, FB patches backwards suprisingly well to original flavour, but it will bomb out if you patch original to FB (I tried it to see if it would work.. ahem..)

    remove any programs running on ur taskbar

    also did u try it before u installed the 1.2 patch? if not uninstall and reinstall and try pre patching

    IL2 hates Zonealarm...so you need to allow it access (if ya want) before starting the game....

    Hi guys...uninstalled and the re-installed the game and it works. I read on the Ubi forum that to apply the latest patch, i need to apply all the earlier patches in the correct order or something?. Anyway, i'll try that and let you know how i get on...

    Original IL-2...all nicely patched up after a visit to the Ubi forums and having a read up on what was needed. Now to learn to fly!!!.

    il2 is easy to learn and good fun just practice on quick missions using friendly planes for targets ,then when u've learnt to shoot

    u can buy il2:fb so u can play online
