What's the damage to the wallet on that mother?
I think Clingy paid bout 70 quid ? not sure.. Ill let the others take over here
I cant fly with FF, just doesnt feel right, best thing to do is find a m8 with a stick n go try it, or PCWorld could come in useful for stick testing...
Cyborg 3D Gold USB here btw...
rgr that....between £70 and £80 for the X45 with two bits (throttle has rudder under the grip) and 4 zillion buttons. Sacry to start...g.ets better with practice.
Need a good ish vid card too.....the higher resolution is worth having. and most vital....minimum 512 mb rammage ;)
if its your first flight sim in ages.....Cyborg for £30 or less is the way to go....
divine game and lots of good guys to shoot at/ya down
It's definately good fun - the feeling of flying a co-op with some mates and all getting back in one piece is great. :)
Biggest learning curves are:
Getting in the air without stalling,
Being able to turn quickly without falling out the air like a brick,
Landing well enough to keep your undercarridge. ;)
I took to IL2FB quite well since I've got a fair few hundred ( if not thousand!! ) hours of Falcon 4 under my belt. The principles of any plane sim are the same, and the WW2 prop sims don't usually have masses of keys to remember. IL2's pretty good with that since there's not many that you actually *need* but there's loads which you can assign if you want to... little things like being able to turn landing and navigation lights on etc. :)
Just remember to be gentle and smooth with the stick inputs and you'll be fine. Get used to flying around offline, then get your arse into a multiplayer co-op and have some great fun. :D
So are there clans or do people just get online and hammer at it?
Both - there's free for all servers and clan (squadron) servers where missions are organised.. and there's even virtual wars you can join!
not wanting to take the thread off of beeeeenster ,is the X45 the bo**ocks where joysticks are concerned as i want a better joystick than my ms ff2 1 which although is good i want better
plus the fact i could easily sell my ms ff2 for around £40 on ebay :D
i usually play on the [MA] / GSV servers as i think they are the best ones ,speaking of which clingy/hat are they runnin 1.21 yet??
i look forward to shooting u down DaBeeeenster ;)
LOL! I post a lot on the "Real World Issues" forum on neowin (winding up americans mainly). Believe me, that's not the first time someone has said that to me lol!
I wont be playing in the UK until after I get back (prolly in the summer) but I might get some practise in here in oz ;)
The X45 rocks big ones but you HAVE to take your time setting it up so that you spend the time flying and not spend time trying to remember which of the 153 different possible combinations makes your flaps retract....
Some people have found the spring on the base too stiff, which it is tbh, so I've cabled tied mine together and its made a world of difference.
They're available pretty cheaply if you hunt around a bit.
You must all be limp wristed, theres nothing wrong with the spring on my 3D....
Well, Deck did say that he was in a camp mood the other day ;)
Nah decks right, I have the 3D and me bro has the X45, the X45 is much more stiffer and definietly needs a tweak.
I got the X45, only problem is the spring thing (which i got used to tbh), otherwise it's an amazing joystick!
I wouldnt be without force feed back in this game, others hate it. Thats the only thing stopped me getting an x45 tbh
Took me about 6 weeks to land ;) but then i hadbt needed to before that :)
Welcome, pull up a Lagg and enjoy
I use a logitech wingman.....
