Homeworld, right?
Is starting a new character worth it anymore? I get the strong impression that the first 55 or so levels will largely have to be done alone..
Yep
When it came to making a new Character, my other server was Slyvanas and Alliance, everyone i played with there stopped playing so I started again on Outland, horde becuase work mates play on there. Since most of the server is 60 and more or less everyone below 60 you see are just alts grinding to 60 it is a lonely place untill I got to 46 and then started grouping with a mates alt.

Depends on the population of the server you are on, try a day 1 server (server that's been running since day 1) and you will find a lot of people have alts and it's still easy to find a group to lvl with. With TBC coming soon there will be alot of people lvling new chars as well.
