I am, I'm not very good though and I don't have a working PC currently!
Should do soon though! :D
Big time.
I have won it with the English once but when I was so close to winning with Egypt it just came up with a message saying "The Mongols - you lose". wtf???
Playing with France now, I have it in the bag and its only turn 95, I already destroyed the Papal states and all that is left is the pope (who I picked and is French) sat outside of Rome with no units. :D
I've won as the Germans before the Mongol Horde even appeared, Lol.
That was fun.. Yeah. The Papal States is slightly annoying isn't it?
Feel like playing online anybody?
You must have played the short campaign surely?
Mongols turn up around turn 80 - 90, surely its not possible to take 45 citys in that time.
Nope, Long Campaign..
Did it within 80 turns. Lol.
I'm very aggressive.
I am also decent - pm me your MSN or somethinbg
How's everyone's current campaigns going?
I started a new one as England a few days ago, had to reinstall the game and I decided I'd unlock the factions the old fashioned way this time. I also changed the mechanics of the game a bit, made it so turns are every 6 months like with Rome instead of every 2 years. It does mean that the game has like 900 turns though, still haven't gotten close to "unlocking" gunpowder yet.
So far I've managed to wipe out Scotland and take over the British Isles, wiped out the Danish, and the holy roman empire, I also hold most of france (Milan has the HRE territory, I just finished off their last city). Spain are starting to push up into france, they surprise attacked me with two pretty huge armies.
Not too bad, I've justed started a second campaign as the English after I got a little stuck in mid europe (damm the mongols)
You guys reckon Medieval 2 is better than Rome?
I currently prefer Rome, units are more varied and interesting. I personally enjoyed Medieval 1 more than 2.
I love it except I'm properly sod awful at Campaigns. What's the best strategy? Get loads of money and then go hunting or just get going on other settlements from the start?
Dunno. I started as England, and the first thing i did was take any rebel settlements in europe, and to wipe out the Scots. now im about 45 turns in, and i've reduced the french to 2 fully armed cities....the problem is that i can't take them because the Pope threatens to Excommunicate me.... :(
if they are down to two cities, make sure you can take them down in one or two turns (i.e. big armies capable of storming cities straight out of the bat - maybe get catapults etc in there)
with luck you will be able to get the french out of there before the pope follows up on his threat
Heh with the germans i can complete the campaign in sub 40 turns ;)
Britain takes a bit more time with the distance, but germans you can fight on so many fronts, switch which race you are attacking depending on how much "pope grief" you get ;)
TiG
Yorkie - lol i can't....I made another save file (so i could go back if it failed).. As soon as i put them back under siege, i was excommunicated....:( I've already waited out one mission from the Pope (do not attack France for 5 turns) :wallbash:
If you can move to attack the city in one move (i.e. you have siege units in the army so can raid the city straight away) then it's possible to ignore the popes orders, as soon as you wipe out the faction, the pope will say that the mission doesn't matter because the faction has been destroyed.
Don't think it would work with two cities though, only if they have one city left I imagine.
