Yeah I re-read the description and then a mate said he'd bought the limited edition and told me exactly that.
I've got the normal version on order atm from play, tried to get on with my mates 10 day trial code but it sais it's already in usewhich is abit disapointing.
Should have it by wednesday tho![]()
It appears to be basically WoW with updated graphics, imo completely backwards to eq2, but im sure a lot of things will be changed.
Is anyone still playing this just outta interest?
I quit a couple of months back. Theres so many things I loved about it, but so many things that annoyed me too. The main problem, is that I like to play with a few real life friends. We played through EQ together for years and had a great time. They then moved on to WoW and then we all played together again in Vanguard. Unfortunately, they didn't enjoy Vanguard after playing WoW, because they just felt it was so none-user-friendly compared to WoW, and they where also disappointed at all the bugs and some of the complexity.
People say WoW had a lot of bugs in its early days too, but when they played it, it had been going for a couple of years so it was nice and smooth sailing. Vanguard was a nightmare in comparison. We all crashed atleast once a night - usually once an hour. That did get better after some patches but it was still an issue, and it did kill our all important first impressions.
They also felt like it was quite a grind. EQ was worse so I thought they would cope, but WoW was so fast, they just felt like it was mind numbing compared to WoW. We had been playing a lot for a couple of weeks, and their highest level was 15 - which they thought was too low and too slow.
They also didn't get a chance to get into some of the complexity of the game. There are sympathetics for example, which let you use an ability or spell after someone else uses one, and if you use the right one after the first person, you get bonus damage. They didn't know any of that, and had quit before I figured it out. They also never got to see some of its more interesting features, like housing and player made boats and flying griffons etc.
Its all a big shame really, because I hoped it would be a new virtual home for us to play in, but it only kept them entertained for a few weeks, and then I lost interest too after they left.
p.s. I loved it 10 times more than EQ2 by the way. EQ2 just did so many things wrong, in my opinion atleast. I always felt much more connected to my character in Vanguard.
I am, don't play every night but probably at least every second night.
Have 3 chars now all at lvl 15 in adventuring, crafting and a comparable level in diplomacy. The amount of improvements have been amazing. 0 to 15 is a fair amount easier now I think due to a lot of tweaks of characters abilities.
Quite a grind was the SWG hologrind or the jedi grind after you'd become glowie![]()
hehe, so I hear
I found EQ to be a grind, but I never felt that Vanguard was too grindy. I actually enjoyed my time playing it, but just..... not THAT much. It was good... but I have a bunch of other games I can play. I've got NWN2 that I haven't even installed yet, and I'm always playing my flight sims and stuff.
So I just didn't want to keep paying monthly for a game that wasn't really any better than playing my usual games. I do kind of miss it though.. Playing by myself was an issue too. When my friends left it got a bit lonely and boring, and I sometimes grouped with people, but I usually found it way too hard to get a group going.
