100 years ago, to this very day, the Wright boys got off the floor:)
And without them, this year wouldn't have been as good as it has been.
Wilbur and Orville Wright, I salute you :)

Yeah we believe they flew first - honest ;)
Conspiracy Theory man Skii strikes again :)
Weekends scrap heap challange was ace. They had team from britain, usa and france and they had to build a plane and fly it half a mile
Brits won french second and the yanks didnt complete the course.
but they all flew in the end but the British one was like a REAL plane
Guy took it to 200 ft (Not bad for a pile of junk) on its test flight :o
The fench got theirs 3 ft off the ground on test flight and the americnas didnt get it off the ground :)
oh wot, wish I saw that :(
respect goes to the dude fom Scotland who was gliding in 1895 every weekend :).....mad man.Quote:

Skii.....spill 'em....I think as far as powered manned flight is concerned, they still officially take it.
Who you thinking of mate?
That bloke off scrapheap in the British plane had balls - plain and simple, he got that thing in the air properly. None of this mincing about a few inches off the ground, this lad was up in the air good style.
Kudos!
Is it repeated?
that was a repeat... but a bloody good show nonetheless.... First time I saw it I thought he'd got something wrong, but man that thing flew well......
Well maybe I was a little tongue-in-cheek there :D however there are earlier accounts of powered flight, just not as concisely documented as the Wrights attempt.

ooooooooooooh.....Iknew about the lack of "coverage" but if I was about to risk my arse and reputation I wouldn't invite the press either ...
however the other stuff there is intriguing...thanks bud....summit to read :)
Nah I'm just an old cynic :D
Plus I still haven't forgiven the yanks for nicking our ideas and building the X-1
dont fret it.....we'll beat them to the moon yet :)
/me scours kazaa for said ep..
Funny that isn't it? They could do it in the 60's in a flying calculator... we got stuff that'd knock the Apollo spacecraft into a cocked hat these days, but we can't get back to the moon??? Doesn't make sense tbh.Quote:

You only thought of this because you saw it on Google!
