The CH Pro stuff just works & goes on working.
The throttle slides in a flat plane rather than arcing as the Cougar & Saitek do (I prefer arcing) & it doesn't have rotaries.
If you use an all CH USB setup (stick, throttle, rudders) then their software can make them appear as 1 device for older games that don't support multiple controllers.
CH are bringing out a multi-throttle quadrant in the Spring.

You should read the forums at Cougar's world.
There have been quite a few defections to CH recently with people just plain fed up with their Cougars & who couldn't/wouldn't pay the same again to get the modifications to make the stick work as they feel they should have in the first place.

    e.g.
    http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/s...ad.php?t=53251

    I have both a Saitek X36 & CH throttle & Fighterstick.
The CH is better but in no way is it 4x better (which is what it costs) but if you want to fly older sims without multiple controller support & use rudder pedals under XP then the Saitek can't do it.

Well its here, bloody tough to get used to after my old set up, found it easy to adjust to rudder bar instead of twist, and seperate throttle. The pinky trigger has had to be unbound, frankly a nightmare. Ive put the bail button as the ickle red one under the safety cap. Biggest problem is getting all the views programmed as I want them. On the whole I like it though, deffo a drop in my performance, couldnt take out an HE111 with a P40 earlier and Im usually fairly handy for 2 bombers per plane. Did pull off some nice shots on 109s although the gunsight is no more steady than it was with FFB

    1) I hate twist rudders but like having rudder control (& haven't coughed up for pedals yet)

    2) seperate throttle is more realistic

    3) way more options for programming but tbh that really only comes into its own with games like Falcon4, LOMAC etc. as for most prop sims you don't need all it can do.

Ooh, I dunno about that. I've quite easily reached the limit of what I can do with all the buttons on just Mode 1, I'm now experimenting with Mode 2 and 3 for more specific things such as bomber controls (engines, bomb sight etc).

Dak, you do know that the pinky switch has a removable extension on it, don't you? It just prises off. It was added to make the pinky switch easy to use for small hands, but it just flips out. Also, the cover on the launch button is removable too, I've taken them both off, the launch button is far enough away to make hitting it by accident very unlikely, and with the pinkie extension gone, even my broad hands fit nicely in the stick.

I'm using all 6 modes(using the pinkie) and I have run out of buttons. My bail button is the one on the back of the stick (fire c). I use the one under the flip cover for engine start ( and also rockets - as some of you may have seen earlier today when I was in the wrong mode and tried to start my engine. Luckily the rockets soared over the heads of all my VEF teammates in front )

LMAO Clingy, Ive spanked loads of ammo with the pinkie trigger.

I love the throttle and the rudder bar intead of twist is LOADS better and I was a big twist fan. Dont notice the lack of force feed EXCEPT it was my *Dak your gonna tear you wings off alert* for me. I hardly ever use the speedbar for speed relying on the feel of the plane in turns and dives sok in turns but I keep ripping the wings off migs. Hence my last 2 VEFs have been bails

I found Deckards X45 quite a revelation......the rudder under the throttle is quite sublime.

BUT....the roller switches..the kind of twist nobs.....they are good for some games but not IL-2.....its not like we have 45 different sorts of heat seeking missile

However...on the whole....I would own one if not for the fact that I wanna have a FFB one day just to compare.

Clingy.....you big girl why on EARTH do you need engine start on the joystick?

Wassup with "I" on the keyboard. LMAO......that's quite funny.....so please done be offended, but do you have things like Windows Start on the throttle and Media Player Pause on the joystick ?

    OK..Ill go now

the whole idea of the x-45 is to keep ure hands well and truely off the keyboard, ive got my engine start to a button on the throttle, this is always the ignition incase i need to kill it due to some damage or when landing.

the biggest problem ive found with it so far is it takes so flippin long to set it up lol, i still aint got it how i want it.

but from what limited time ive had to try it, its been really nice, superb compared to the precision2 i used to have

LOL Zak. The keyboard is tucked away under my screen and rarely gets used. I have virtually all keys mapped to the X45 except radio calls, but I'm working on the regular ones ATM.

The only thing I am having trouble with is getting a key mapped to pour a G&T .

I've decided to stick with my current 'stick'.

Changing the inputs settings have made a world of difference.

Also, I'll miss the FFB too much I think.

Maybe I can put some extra money towards a better graphics card though now
