i've been using the camera on my k750i for around 1 year now, and im getting a bid fed up with the quality tbh,
so i just wanted reccomendations for a decent cheap-ish camera (about £200)
thanks, Nick

Everyone else seems to ignore them, but how about the Ricoh R5?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ricoh-174274.../dp/B000JJ4FY4
It might not be the best camera out there, but show me another that has 7x OPTICAL zoom in that form factor for that money.
The R6 is basically the same, just tweaked image processing and software along with being a bit thinner.
looks awesome, and £40 under budget too
cheers![]()
I'm sure others will chip in with other sugestionsl, i'm not sure what the current favourite cameras are on here atm
But for me the 7x optical and image stabilisation, along with it's size and shape are killer features.
The R6, when i eventually get it, will be a massive upgrade from my Sony DSC-P10 i got a few years back.
lol, this will be a bigger upgrade for me!
as along with my k750i i have a half dead kodak 2.2megapixel camera...
Don't forget to get a decent sized SD card too. i believe the 4GB ones work in those now.
I'm indecisive inbetween the Ricoh with the great optical zoom (I think there's a panasonic with similar specs?) and the fuji f30 (or f31fd now) for it's unmatched low-light and general low-noise performance, but that seems to sacrifice any sort of manual focus setting (even my ancient sony P8 has some manual options for focus to avoid the slow auto-focussing!).
There is a Panasonic with a 10x optical.... but it is huge! same with the Nikon S10. Not really pocketable.
Ricoh R5:
96.0 x 55.0 x 26.0mm (excluding projections)
140g for the camera, 170g including batery, memory and strap
Ricoh R6:
100 x 55 x 23 mm
165g inc. battery
Panasonic DMC-TZ3EB-S:
105.0 x 59.2 x 36.7 mm
232g bare, 257g with batery and card
Nikon Coolpix S10:
112.5 x 74.5 x 40.5 mm
220g bare
Ricoh have been releasing regular firmware updates for the R5 so check that if you get it. 4GB HC-SD cards are supported.
How about this - Samsung L77
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-L77-...505571&sr=1-13
7MP
7* optical zoom
94 x 57 x 21 mm
If i had the money i'd be highly tempted by this
hope this helps
Andy
I've not personally used a Ricoh R5 but a friend of mine bought one; she subsequently returned it about a week later because of lacklustre image quality. She may have just had a duff one but it certainly didn't make a good impression on her.
Based on my experience with Canon cameras, I'd recommend the Canon Powershot A710IS:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-PowerS...5506667&sr=8-3
7MP, 6x zoom, image stabiliser (very useful!) and an adapter ring around the lens barrel should you wish to attach any wide/teleconverters, filters etc.
Might be worth looking at some reviews of kit before you buy it, there's so many cameras available it can be a bit bewildering

Best bang for buck has to be the Fuji F30 - only £125! Works well in all situations (especially low light) but only 3x optical zoom. The Canon A700/A710 is an excellent camera as well. If you want a wide-angle camera - I'd try going for the Ricoh R6 over the Ricoh R5 - the R5 wasn't / isn't great indoors when I used it (with an early firmware).
Any of them are going to be dramatically better than your camera
Or if you want ultra small (mobile phone sized), then the Canon IXUS i7 Zoom is very good (and I just so happen to have one for sale in the for sale forum)

I did a review of a Ricoh a year or so ago, terrible !!
I own a Nikon D70, and an Olympus C-715, but my son has recently bought the Panasonic DMC-FZ7, with Leica lens and 12x optical zoom:-
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/113756
£165 inc vat. 5 stars IMHO![]()
the Panasonic DMC-TZ1 - being replaced with the -TZ2 and -TZ3 - is now only about £160.
