Ah, you probably don't need to go as slow as 8seconds to get enough depth of field to have the nice definition on the furr!
ps, josh see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-number they have some nice illustrations.

Dunno, the one I used on the cat is a Canon USM 35-135 1:4-5.6 lens (Probably bought around 1995-1996) and it works fine with AF on. The other one I have is a bulky Sigma UC Zoom 70-210 1:4-5.6 lens but that one only works on manual and sometimes gives the error 99
I'm guessing some old ones don't have the right electrical connections but can still be used manually and some can still be compatible with DSLR's today.
PS - I have this C-AF 2X Teleplus MC7 extension sort of lens thing. Any idea what it does? Can't really find much information how good the lens and parts I have on the internet.
do you use a 430ex flash or the built in one?
I uploaded this on to DevArt, wondering if it let me hotlink:-
I see alot of tulip pics these days...well spring is here I guess, shame bout the weather this week
Works fine for me. Nice pic, though I'm not quite decided on the pastel background that such small DoFs give - seen quite a lot of it recently though.
Don't know where you are, but it's gorgeous here! Just had a spot of rain at the start of the week and blue skies thereafter (I see location says West London.. I'm just north of London!)I see alot of tulip pics these days...well spring is here I guess, shame bout the weather this week
any old EF lenses will be compatible with new Canon bodies its the FD models that won't because when the EOS bodies came out in 1989, the mount changed
Teleplus is a 2x Tele converter - on your 35-135 it will make a 70-270mm lens, but you will loose your AF ability and the minimum f stop will be f8 and you will also loose 2 stops of light..
on the Sigma you will end up with a 140-420mm again no AF and minimum f stop of f8 and you loose 2 stops
