Lots of different theories as to why there are so many. Personally i reckon it started when owning parrots became fashionable, people were crap at looking after them and many just flew off and bred like mad. The reason there are so many is because it's a prey free habitat (besides cats), there's food available all year round, and they breed a lot!

nope, just a little post processing, used the shadows/highlghts tool in photoshop, then slightly desaturated the image, and added a vignette
