Why is the wall at the front out of focus, but the front of his jacket not? A tad less blurring on the left might look more realistic :)

Had a go at developing some film for the first time the other day... mixed results. I think a combination of not fixing for long enough and/or some bromide drag screwed things over a bit. Still, lesson learned!
Camera was a Pentax K1000, 50mm 1.7 and Ilford HP5 400

I'm currently using society chemicals (partially the reason the fix went awry was because i used some ready mixed stuff that was from god knows when!) but i think i'm going to buy my own to keep things consistent.
