done, sorry. I clicked post and was like woooo.
What do you think now they are smaller

Yeah, i just used my normal 50mm, my 55-200mm AF-S mounted normally and did it by hand. When i get the ring it'll be a lot better because you can more control it a lot more easily - it's really hard holding the second lens steady...
Supposedly you can use the kit lens too but the most popular is the 300mm. The disadvantage of shooting at 55 is the ring you get, you need to be at 200 to avoid getting vignetting. The reversed lens needs to be set to infinity as well as opened wide (so newer wave motor lenses without aperture control are effectively useless unless you can set it in camera beforehand). The advantage is pretty clear though - you can get well over 1:1 if you have the right lens combination!
I really want to try it on someone's eye...
It really shows up how grubby my macbook's keyboard is!
too big to post so i'll link to full size
http://blasteh.deviantart.com/art/re...test-122648718
just tried it by holding the lens against the camera.. very tedious and most of my shots were blurred to hell
Did you put it on another lens or was it only the 30mm?
What i did find too was that liveview - for once - is an absolute boon :P
it was the 30mm on its own.. i had to use liveview too.. and my hands are all shakey when i have to hold the lens against the camera.
i just took some more but i'm going to work.. will post later of the lens stopped down
basically you go to aperture priority with the lens attached normally then you hold the dof preview button and remove the lens with dof preview still held down
i find the dof at f/1.4 wayyyy too small, i figure it's prolly less than 1mm heh
i use a 28-75 with a 50 reversed for my stuff

I might try that, i've got my 28-70, so i could just stick a step down ring on it...
another one from my sister. spooky tree in back garden, absolutely no image processsing whatsoever.

I'm a noob using a cheapo handheld thingy but I think this photo came out quite well;
http://www.mauled-in-motion.co.uk/EX...rge&pic_id=147
I like it :)
I'd probably nip into lightroom to make the sky stand out a bit more and reduce some of the background haze, but i love the depth of field (looks almost hyperfocal) and the silhouetted guy is a great touch.
Also, macro-wise, i found that using a tripod and shooting straight down, perpendicular to the object worked quite well. That way the depth of field plane is much more usable for flat objects (like coins). It also lets you stop right down and take shots to increase the dof without getting camera shake.
EDIT:
Found this little bugger running around my room -

I feel like a bit of an impostor posting in this thread with all the professional looking pics, But what the heck. Fantastic spider btw Whiternoise, first pic especially.

Not a good photo by any stretch of the imagination....but look at those parrots - and that's just the smallest selection, there are bloody hundreds of them flying around at the moment.

tfboy - love that first shot
cubitor - you too - incredible lighting and dof
What IBM said basically. Love the first shot tfboy, the second is a bit meh in comparison :P
Great shot of the ladybug cubiter! This thread makes me want a macro lens.
escaped from some zoo or something? that's very srange
Nice shot Kal, although it's a shame you've just cropped the very top of the flowers. If there weren't any flowers, the geometry and composition would be really strong, but they just want my eye to go up a bit :)
Not cropped, just missed :p I was trying different exposures and fairly typically the only shot that didn't have a blown sky (at -2/3rds) was the one which missed the very top of the flowers. It's straight from camera though, so when I've got more time I'll have a look at the RAW version of some of the others and I'll probably be able to recover the sky in one of them.
That and my P+S is far from a wide angle :p
this guy landed on me, gave me quite a shock..

Lots of different theories as to why there are so many. Personally i reckon it started when owning parrots became fashionable, people were crap at looking after them and many just flew off and bred like mad. The reason there are so many is because it's a prey free habitat (besides cats), there's food available all year round, and they breed a lot!
Result is what you see in the photo :P
i used a variety of glass, 28 1.8 with a 2x tele, a 28-75 2.8 with 2x tele and reversed 50 1.8
http://www.pbase.com/bob_hall/image/112808760.jpg
Ah ok :)
My reversing ring came today so i'll have a play with that properly :D
What combo did you use to get the stag beetle? Didn't know you got blighters like that in Dorset!
just a Tamron 28-75, its got pretty good focal distance..

Ok, so it's technically not a recent photo, but I was trying to revise this week and couldn't focus, so I went back to my photos from my Round the World trip last year and picked out a few more that I like, but hadn't thought much of last time

nope, just a little post processing, used the shadows/highlghts tool in photoshop, then slightly desaturated the image, and added a vignette

Oh and I should add that this is a 100% real reflection, I didn't flip another photo upside down and combine it or anything.

And got to ask what glider?
lol, yep...
we landed next to the strip too... other side of the "brown line" on the grass... the ATC get the tarmac...
the aircraft is a k21 i do believe...
theres a butload of photos on http://www.flickr.com/photos/stevieguk/ if anyones interested...
just resized them off the camera and stuck them up...
nothing spectacular really... some of the aircraft though...
Really? Eh i guess i've never really sat in the back of a 21 before :P I think our ASIs look slightly different...
I mostly fly 21's, probably what i'll end up soloing in, but otherwise Puchacz's are the way forward :D
A shot from this evening:

I really like that image ^
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3349/...b5d178ef_o.jpg
this club uses a couple 18s for solo's... although i think my boss (the reason i was shooting at the club) did do a solo flight in the 21 as that was what he was used to before the 18's...
Gotta say its really not for me...
I've been up on the back of a tug and on a winch, and though the tug was smoother, i still would rather keep my feet on the floor :D
nice tree btw :)
Ta :)
I mentioned it in an earlier post, but i fly out of HusBos - 2nd largest in the country, so they've got a fair selection of aircraft. ASK21's are their main dual trainers and Puchacz's are good steps up from that (good for spin training and they're a lot more responsive). I think they've also got a Duo Discus as their advanced 2 seater, as well as a Junior (1 seater Puchacz) and one or two single seater Discus'. Though i think someone in our club buggered the landing gear on a discus a few years ago and we're not allowed to fly them any more :P
As for the winch, it's weird how desensitised you get to it. The first time is sort of "omigodthatsfast what do i do?!" and after 30 odd flights it's just "eh, zoom, pull back, pull back, pull off, nose down". I've only done 2 aerotows, mainly because they cost so much...
Still, university is easily the best time to learn :)
Eeek!
Squash it!

that looks cool Rugger :) did you use ACR to convert? if you did, have you tried the clarity slider?

I went for a walk in the gardens at work yesterday afternoon.
This was some mean looking rhubarb. :D It was about 7 feet tall. I don't know what it actually is.

I took this photo a few weeks ago at work. This duckling was all by itself for over a week. It wasn't following any adults and there weren't any other ducklings a similar age at the time. I haven't seen it for a while. :( C'est la vie. I'm surprised it lasted that long, actually.

Lovely photos guys, Bob's duckling shot had my girlfriend squealing, very cute indeed. Really like the fungi shot Kid Chameleon.
I like the angle of the B24 Rugger, and the colour, the light has a nice quality to it. I'm always amazed that those WW2-era heavy bombers ever got off the ground. Must've been fun/terrifying to be the tail gunner in something like that!
thanks :D I've taken plenty of photos of this plane in the past, but the new 10-20mm gave me a chance to make a feature of the Lib's unique "chin". The light was an unexpected bonus, helped by a partial b & w conversion
Duxford a couple of years ago, must see if i can make another :)

Nice motion blur on the Spit Bob :)
If you do make another Duxford, it'd be nice to say hi, just don't steal my flightline spot :D
well it was punching it! and i had a shutter of 1/100..
nah we were up on the hill at the end of the field.. my 20D shutter broke at that event, spent the rest of it shooting with my m8's 350D.. the days before i had 2 20's had a wedding booked in a couple of weeks of that event as well.. luckily i got it repaired in time!
