and I know this is all blurry and out of focus. .....
He was stalking me as I photographed the fuschia's and came past and I got him...but badly.
This is one of those shots where I WISHED the camera had held focus on the foreground, where I'd been, and I'd not let go of the shutter button, cos if it had taken the flower in focus, it would have been the perfect shot of the cat :)

A lovely afternoon.
Not a touch on Bobsters pics , I caught this chap scuttling around my bedroom about 2am the other night. It is now living in a transparent box on my desk and being fed any flies that are foolish enough to enter my room. This is it eating a tiny daddy-long-legs.

Taken with Fujifilm Finepix S6500fd using the 1cm macro mode.
Took the below photo tonight up the field at the back of my house.

Great photo btw, brilliant eye colour, light/shadows
Thanks merdat. I clicked "take me to first unread post" and almost pooped myself.
I agree with ibm, lovely eyes on that pic, Bobster, what's up with the little fella?
Found this elsewhere. - very relaxing.

Shot this with a manual Pentax P30 on Fujifilm Neopan 1600 pro, was my first time using this film.
Gives some really nice results.

Jezz that was really scary, how did you process the eye ? Burning ?
http://www.pbase.com/bob_hall/image/85931094.jpg
finally got round to editing the gig photos from the other night :D
1/40 @ ISO3200 2.8 200mm
See, your gig photos at ISO3200, look perfect, whereas, mine at just ISO800 look really grainy!
I know you've done a bit of post processing, but any chance you could post/PM me a before processing photo and what you did to it to? tar :D
PP done to the gig photos, corrected exposure, colour corrected, added some saturation, burnt out the background and that was it, i then resized for web :D
100% zoom

Market Stall holder at the local Market..
http://www.pbase.com/bob_hall/image/85957470.jpg
Nice :D Did you burnt the background as well, how to sharpen to get the effect like that ? Sry for keep asking but Im a total PS noob
no burning, all done with layers :)
the sharpening is my normal smart sharpen filter and then the PP brought out the details, the subjects face also helped ;)
http://www.pbase.com/bob_hall/image/85955538.jpg
Guess I have to sit down and learn layers
anyway here's a pic
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1146/...4e61f0e8_o.jpg
thats lovely that is! :D
one yesterday from my nieces birthday party - had my 580ex set in the corner of the room with a radio remote, allowed me to shoot ISO200 with a decent shutter and aperture
http://www.pbase.com/bob_hall/image/86127166.jpg
I was too late for the macro comp - darn it - so here was my entry, unedited;

It has a nasty looking horn on its backside - I think it's a Tomato Hornworm or variation thereof.
Another shot of the full thing. For a point-n-click dunce, I love the colour of the caterpillar.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...Picture006.jpg
What a shame you're late, that is sooooooooooooo cute, I love the colour
that is a shame actuially....I had to decide to throw him out in the cold and not allow him to enter..cos I'm evil :(

They all seemed to look better when they were bigger than they are here, I'm now quite disappointed.:( Any tips would be appreciated..
Bit more contrast and saturation ? Where is it :D Looks cool
The Chinese Gardens, at Rivington near Bolton. How would I alter the saturation and contrast, is this something I can do in Photoshop? (I'm such a noob:))
LOL it looks like a ruin more than a chinese garden tbh, yeah you can do that in PS. Quick way is Image -> Adjustments. I prefer using Curves and Levels which could be found in Layers -> Adjustment Layers (only avail in PS not Element)
Cheers for the tips, will have a bash tomorrow. Yeah the gardens are a ruin, Liverpool council let them go in the 70s, but I think they look cooler like this than they did in their heyday
Maisy on the phone to her grandfather :D
http://www.pbase.com/bob_hall/image/102880400.jpg
Liverpool council used to own all the land round here, I think its because the reservoirs here supply the water to Liverpool.... which is good, because it means we get our drinking water from the Lake District:)
Not really accessible without a car, Horwich Parkway train station is a few miles away, and then you'd have to take a 10 minute bus ride, but the bus only gets you within about a mile of the gardens, they're kind of in the middle of nowhere, they were originally built on a shooting estate. Very easy by car though:)
Hey Guys!
This here is my first attemped with Photoshop (only just got it, such a cool program)!
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...Butterflee.jpg
What you think?
Any good hints for getting a good edit?
u need to add image tags

set up my tripod with my 70-200 2.8 with 2x tele in the office today looking at a bird feeder hanging outside
Coal Tit
http://www.pbase.com/bob_hall/image/87687760.jpg
Nice, although the feeder is too massive
Was out trying to get shots for the upcoming photo comp and came across this sorry sight. Really hate seeing a truck left to rot away, and after some pics thought I'd pull mine up for some "2 brothers" shots

That is a good photo bobster! I like the bird just landing, its a good capture! :D
The clarity of the portraits are superb.
I presume they're downsized/diminished quality for uploading but even so, they are so sharp.
The eyes of the little lad are so deep.
thanks - yeah its a pretty clean shot considering the subject
same photo - @ 100%

The lighting is also great in your photos. I'm beginning to wish I had bought a serious camera now instead of the Lumix FZ-18 I got. The 18x optical zoom is great, but I am no longer using the auto features after only 3 weeks, and the sensor is £*$%, at mid and high ISO levels the amount of noise is appalling:(. Are there any decent SLRs to be had for around £400? What sort of money should I be thinking about spending for a few decent lenses?
http://fc04.deviantart.com/fs9/i/200..._andy_nico.jpg
Here is my Wintery addition ...
you should be able to pick up something like a 10D for about 250 on ebay
then you're looking 250-2000+ for decent glass :)
:surrender:
Loving the capture of Jake Bob nice one
Think I'll stick with the £300 Lumix then for the minute:embarrassed:
nothing wrong with that, in fact compact lenses tend to be better than lower end slr lenses since they are build specifically for that camera.
What he hates is the ISO performance, ISO 800 is awfull iirc. New pics btw, something new in ages

nice Hans... has an almost sexy feel about it with the deep red and curves like that...
here's one of mine from yesterday, little bit of PP to bring out the red/orange/blue contrast
http://www.lightoverwater.co.uk/blog...30-005-web.jpg
Kinda have a holga / cross-processed look to it, looks cool though, it's nostalgic
Nice shot Hans, but WTF is it? Im sat here going mmmmm and havent a clue
LOL it's the edge of a dark purple calla lily, my fav subject for floral for its sexy curves
Ahhhh stunning subject mate
here 's the full view

http://www.pbase.com/bob_hall/image/88236897.jpg
ooh that came out well as an inverse image :)
Inverse ? Uhhm I just monochrome it in channel mixer, it was yellow originally.
hahahah, with the white background i thought you'd made the photo b+w and inversed it :)
hope you don't mind, i made an edit ;)
http://www.pbase.com/bob_hall/image/88260211.jpg
Oohhh, looks much better actually :
another gig pic..
http://www.pbase.com/bob_hall/image/88248089.jpg
i'll have to get out and about during the day and see what i can come up with..
Man that's painfully sharp, and perfect lighting, is that a local gig or what ?
yeah local venue called Mr Kyps
i was asked to attend by another performer
http://www.pbase.com/bob_hall/image/88258458.jpg
I take it that the lighting is not overly challenging ? cause the pics are so detailed and clear and sharp and ... It looks almost set up
1/80 - 2.8 - 3200
remote hotshoe ftw! :)
Feels amateurish after that, but here's my effort with a boggo 3.2mp point and shoot. Praia da Rocha bay at early evening.

Backwards without a viewfinder, bit of a problem with barrel distortion here.

I really liked the colours and lines on these bee boxes, again in Portugal.

This is me trying to get arty, I wanted to show off the lines and light, just hope my crappy camera got it.
