I'd have stopped in the road for that one!

What kind of editing can I do to bring out the sun's rays some more? Maybe it doesn't need it. My netbook screen is fairly clear, but not what I'm used to with my desktop monitor. I should get rid of the bright spot in the foreground as well.

A new infrared church for my effort today, modified Oly D380.

Rox0r, could I kindly ask you remove my portrait please? :P
Love the contrast in that photo though, from the overexposed left to the underexposed right, good shot :).
A pic taken whilst watching Scranton Wilkes Bar Yankees. Saw three games in america, I loved the atmosphere, enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. Just wish I could have caught the shot with less blur on the bat and ball, but the games are played early evening so light wasn't good enough with my set up.

Being too hard on yourself there, nice shot!
I've been editing some of my New Zealand photos on my desktop PC at home. There are still a few for me to go through but I'm tired now. I might be going back in a week or two. I'll take my Sigma 50-500mm next time because we might go to Tiritiri Island, a nature reserve near Auckland.

I had one photo in the sequence of them almost touching the water, but it misfocused.

I like making panoramas. :D

I've replaced some of the photos I've already posted with some tidied up versions.
I can highly recommend Tiritiri Matangi - lots of birds. You can stay overnight too (at least you could a few years ago) - we saw a kiwi in the wild.
Spot the odd one out! Spits at the Battle of Britain Airshow at Duxford.

Tee hee.
Did you enjoy the show? Caused chaos in the local area. Free show for us on Friday though as the frenchies practised overhead :)
Great show. I went on Sunday, and since I go north on the M11 I always seem to avoid the traffic :)
That horse jumping shot is superb - my missus goes to these shows and the 'resident' photographer always takes crap pics and charges a fortune.
OK, so yesterday was my first full day shotting with my el cheapo Olympus C2000 with R72 IR filter. Photoshop used Khromagery action for colour channel swap, but thats about it for PP.
Note to self - buy 6v 5aH lead acid battery, this little budder eats Duracells !

Definitely my favourite, and the answer to my earlier question about the pint of IR :)
*point :D, not sure what a "pint" of IR would be!
Thanks Matey, I love the spitfire parade too, 14 of em ??
17 in all, I was too lazy to change to a wider lens :)
Not technically all that great but wanted to share these

Nice shots :) Cats are never the most cooperative of subjects in my experience :)
Like the IR effects - nice result.
Thats a photogenic cat - never managed to get a shot of my old cats as good as either of them.
Thank you, that means a lot, she was never a shy subject, she couldn't care less if you were taking a picture of her, she always knew she was getting attention, but that was exactly what she wanted anyway, she was just happy to be in the same room and would lie down and watch us or have a nap.
The other shot Im happy with from Summer Leys, IR Oly C2000, R72.

Love the shot G8ina - don't suppose I could get my grubby hands on a slightly higher res version for a wallpaper could I?
Been playing about with mono recently - might have overdone the sky but still liked the end result - pano of a few pics stitched together. Its quite big full size.

Could be a bit brighter for me, but I love it; the guys sitting on the rock really make the shot. They draw your eye and then focus your attention on what they're looking at. Where is this?
Its from the top of Harrison Stickle with Blea Tarn more or less dead centre.
Was in the same spot for dawn a week or two back - beautiful place to watch the sun rise.
Interesting prop blur on this one
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4091/...950022d4_b.jpg
very strange, was it a part white prop ?
I'll have to dig back into some old photos to find that out, I think it's more that the prop has an unusual shape.
Here's a flightline shot from this year's Flying Legends, I think the prop is twisted to a higher degree than usual, plus it's fecking huge! Something to ask the pilot about sometime if I get the chance :)

Been going through a lot of shots now I've got lens profiles in LR3 for my kit - absolutely fantastic tool :)
I think this fella fancied my lens as a perch!

^^ Ha! Fantastic! :)
superb facial focus rox !!!
Thanks. The Falconer was stood behind me with his glove-hand on my head (complete with yummy raw chicken, nom nom) to get the shot.
Brilliant! Competition winning shot there I'd say.
That is a super shot! nice one
Not sure how I can follow that one...!

Ribblehead Viaduct
nice exposure, hdr?
nice BiF :)
one from yesterdays wedding :)
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4084/...7411be58_b.jpg
Yeah, I tried to be subtle about it. It really wasn't the best time to be shooting landscapes at all (i.e. bright, sunny, midday), impossible to get a single exposure with everything dead on - HDR seemed to be the only way.
Also it's a lot smaller in real life! I've seen pictures that make it seem huge, so I was expecting this beast of a viaduct like the one from Shadow of the Colossus :P It's not tiny, I know, but I was expecting bigger...
Got some panoramas from up Whernside that I'll put up later. I totally failed to find the path up hill and ended up taking the fell-running route straight up the side. Something ridiculous like a 45 degree slope, and that's not exaggerating, I had to get up it on all fours more or less.
Nice simple shot of the Shaguar Bob, was it on the couple's 'shopping list' or just a wee dafty for your own amusement?
Eagle Owl from the same shoot, this chap weighs a ton and lands with a real thud.

I know what you mean about it looking a bit smaller than you expect sometimes. What was the weather like up on Whernside? I was going to head up there this past saturday but got a hangover instead :surprised:

Some brilliant shots the last page or so.
Put a 10 stopper version of this up a bit back and only just looked at the 'normal' exposures the other day for some reason. Excuse the dust spot I didn't notice till too late.

That's a pretty cool effect, apart from a few bits of repetition on the left. :)
Today I went to Castle Combe for the Minis. I think these are an improvement on last year. I spent more time on a corner where the sun was in the right place. The photos I got on an opposite corner came out pretty badly, where the camera was exposing for the shadowed side of the cars meaning everything around them was overexposed while the cars were still a bit dark.
I managed to shave about 800 photos down to 98, which I think is a pretty good keep-rate considering most of them were usable but similar continuous panning shots.

I know the watermark's a bit naff but someone was linking my photos without credit last year and I can't be bothered with something fancy. Not much you can do to stop that other than not upload them at all, but where's the fun in that?
Old Warden yesterday - no Edwardians thanks to the wind, but the rest of the show was great!
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4090/...63ff3e11_b.jpg
very nice
Hmmmmm, let me think, what shall I post today ?
I know, another infrared shot :)
This is from my newest modified camera, a Sony DSC-P73 (definitely my easiest mod yet!). Nice thing about this is all the processing was done in camera, so this is exactly as it came out of the memory card. B&W, +1 on sharpening and contrast. Overcast day and ISO100, f2.8, 1/100th, so I'm pretty impressed with this camera.

Like that - the old biplanes are cracking as well. Beautiful looking things.
Still trying mono - one from very early on Saturday - was up St Sunday Crag before dawn. Bloody cold. This is one from t'other side a few minutes after the sun came up. Unfortunately slipped on a bit of ice going up and broke a couple of filters so the sun rising shots were a bit naff due to bright skies and very dark valley bottoms.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4109/...5ec25324_b.jpg
Last 2 pictures, just stunning guys they really are!
Cheers mate
Just to prove it really was early - heres one of Hellvellyn from the corner of St Sunday with the sun still 20 minutes from rising..
Slightly surreal as I've blended two cos the originals were so dark.

Your first one's eerie Kushti, got a few nice lenticular clouds in there as well. Is it just me though, or is the horizon a bit wonky?
Also from the Shuttleworth collection, automotive this time, a 1937 Railton; beautiful car with some fascinating details.
