Great shot, what do you mean by a barebulb?
Last Thursday saw the last flight of the Lynx MK8 - in true fashion the Navy were running 45 minutes behind in the flight schedule, so they just kept flying past Compton Abbas airfield instead of stopping for the 5 minutes they had originally planned.. they also flew much higher over the airfield than I would have liked.. so instead of the Lynx flight, I give you a Gazelle departing 6 minutes after the flight passed..

Rob i really I liked your previous photos especially the night shot and the ones from Colarado but I feel a bit disapponted in this one. I wish the subjects were closer and i feel the clouds are just too bright.

yup funny old weather in Hawaii, if i'd exposed for the clouds then the rest of the scene would have been about 4 stops under, sure I could have lit the couple with a flash, but then it would have been funny shapes with them lit and the clouds exposed..
If the couple were closer, the composition wouldn't work...get a nice 30x20 print and they will be nice and big then ;)
A few years back I did that banger rally down to the Gambia it really became apparent as you got closer to the equator how the light is just "different". Shadows are darker, the light is so much stronger. Time to jump ship to sony and get all the dynamic range!

Wow, I didn't realise they still used those P2-Es...
Wouldn't the stress on the airframe be quite high, or am I being retardant?
This is supposed to be the last year, they are being retired in favour of the BAe146. They stresses in firefighting are insane, but former military aircraft are cheap! Watching them take off is amazing. They start out with the roar of the big radials as they accelerate down the runway, then as they pass you the howl of those straight turbojets just takes over the entire world!
And I saw what you did there....
I think they are robber flies.

http://www.photographs.rjwhetton.co....7D-Mark-II.jpg
Indeed - still OK full screen when at a quarter of the size after 5 sec. work in Irfan View!
I tried page down too quickly and the browser went black and had to be restarted - never thought that the pictures would still be loading.
Today from Airbourne. Weather wasn't great, but I was up on Beachy Head. One of the Red Arrows flew right above us and in the process of taking some shots of it, I caught this one.

I got soaked top to bottom, weather forecast said clouds and sun.
Stacked a Cokin drop in filter and a Zomei without the right sized filter adapter. Had some light bleed even though I covered the viewvfinder hence I opted for B+W instead of colour.

Can't see a photo?
fixed it.
We actually had some good weather over a bank holiday for once, so I managed to get this photo of the Andromeda galaxy on Monday night. Conditions weren't great, although there were no clouds it was very hazy, but I've not done any astrophotography for months due to the short summer nights so it was good practice! So. I'm back in the US of A and it's rutting season.. spotted this guy on the golf course late evening and tried to get as close as possible, but he kept wandering away. Stood still enough for him to come within range of 640mm

Scary moment heading up the trail on Twin Sisters in Estes Park when we interupted a couple of Bull Elk fighting, one ran away, thankful. But this guy took an interest in us! We evaded him and he went on his way up the mountain..

mini softbox on flash, or did you have a lightstand in a backpack? ;)
i cant imagine walking around central london with a lightstand, softbox is the way to go. I was trying out the Ezybox 2 for the 1st time. You can see the reflection in the second photo.

/\ that is a beauty!
Just used the D7100, tripod (with remote) and a very wide angle Tokina 11-16 lens. I tried to teach a tourist i met there who had a fuji x-m1 how to shoot fireworks but cos she had a a more tele lens (35mm??) they came out overexposed.
IC443, the Jellyfish Nebula. I imaged this back in January, https://forums.hexus.net/photography...ml#post3752359 but I've since learned a lot and changed a lot of my gear too. I'm planning to get more data on this to further reduce the noise levels, but given UK weather that might not be soon.
It's an LRGB composite using filters on a mono camera, but rather than using the full spectrum for L I've used a 7nm hydrogen alpha filter to isolate the nebula and cut through the light pollution.

Hi Bob, I'd be interested to know what you used to get this (your moon shot) - lens focal length, aperture, iso and shutter speed.
Thanks
Had a pretty successful day.
