Hi everyone!

Now I realise that I'm out of order with this post as I know you're all posting some rather beautiful images that are all your own work; my respect to you for the originality.

But I'm sure a thread like this can handle at least one picture of iconic status posted in case you've never seen it before and because I hope as photographers it will inspire you. I know that since seeing this picture by Kevin Carter of a young girl in the then starving Sudan, I have never forgotten it.

I think it's out of place for this thread, but certainly worth posting in a 'photo's that have inspired me' type thread.

yes, started in zoomed, then pulled back through the exposure, looks like the zoom ring stuck a little..

yep start in close and zoom out, not a particularly long exposure (c1.5-2 secs?).

Its just sometimes tricky to judge how quickly to turn the zoom (so you don't end up with too long at the wide end of the zoom), plus doing it handheld in the freezing cold concious of your train about to leave doesn't help

Bit off topic, but does anyone else think it's weird that we originally came from the trees, and now we're back to living/working in the heights again?

Urban jungle, concrete forest... I even posted it under that title on another forum.

That's China though - where I lived in Edinburgh was very different. After this experience I don't think I'll live in a tower block again if I can help it.

Wildly off topic where are you in China, brammers? I'm off to China on Thursday Flying to Hong Kong then off to Chengdu in Szechuan region for a week.
