I was an early riser this morning:

Just realised that's quite a nice demo of focal lenghts. First shot at 17mm, 2nd at 135mm - it's fairly easy to see what's happened. Good to note that the 'compression' effect you get with telephotos still exists in the wideangle shot - it's just that in the tele shot it becomes a much bigger player and you notice it more.

I just love the buildings looming out of the mist. Beijing is such a weird place - most of the time I utterly hate it but just occasionally you have to appreciate it. Ugly as hell, but there's something. 2nd shot I wish I'd noticed that guy and that he'd told me he was going to stand still for 20" - he'd have been great as a focal point dwarfed by the buildings that just keep on rising up.

Heh I meant subtle as in the fact they don't immediately merge into one another, the transition from each colour is a slow gradient... very nice, I just wish I actually woke up at dawn sometime to actually see this mysterious time of the day lol
