This pic was an absurd amount of work, still not finished (excuse the sky) and then at the end of the day I look at the straight-from-camera jpeg and realise it's not all that different (despite getting a long way away in PP) - doh!

Lots of adjusting the levels on different parts of the picture, various USMs of different radius to increase local contrast, dodging and burning too. And it probably wasn't worth doing

As you can see, the camera jpeg isn't actually all that bad, perhaps even better in some places - working with so many shades of white is an absolute pain, and trying to bring out contrast between white hawfrost against a white misty sky I found impossible!

Oh and for information (don't know if exif is preserved):
