Look at this people, rumoured spec for Nikon D3, supposedly will be announce tomorrow
D3
* Full frame (FX) 12 megapixel Nikon CMOS
* Live view LCD
* 9fps in FF mode, 11fps in HSC mode (at 1.5 crop factor / DX size)
* ISO 200 - 6400 with LO (ISO 100 equivalent), H1 and H2 (ISO 12800 / 25600, respectively)
* 51 point autofocus system (15 cross sensor)
Both the burst rate and ISO are just off the chart completely
And the D300
D300
* DX format 12 megapixel CMOS (supposedly possibly the same as the D2X)
* Live view LCD
* 6fps, up to 8fps with power grip (no HSC mode)
* ISO 200 - 3200 with LO (ISO 100 equivalent), H1 (ISO 6400)
* 51 point autofocus system (15 cross sensor)

Seriously hope it's not real lol, I'm a Canon fanboy
Primary kit:
Fuji S5 Pro - Nikkor AF 50/1.8 - Nikkor AF 85/1.8
Epson RD-1
Film Kit:
Leica M3 - Summicron 50/2 DR - Zeiss ZM 25/2.8 - M-Rokkor 40/2
Olympus OM2n - Zuiko 50/2 Macro - Zuiko 50/1.4 - Zuiko 35/2.8
yeah, but Nikons downfall is anything over ISO800 requires noise reduction...

They're moving to CMOS from CCD though so possibly that will change ...
Hmm, not sure about that, I'd be astounded if anything over 1600 ISO was usable in the slightest, let alone 12800 / 25600!![]()

Nice one bob
TBH, I think the engadget article is embellishing a few things based on a wonky translation:
So apparently it's a Nikon CMOS, which I very much doubt has the capabilities they're talking about (broken translation, or wishful thinking?)Original Article, Translated

the 12.5Mp Sony CMOS sensor for the D300 sensor is very plausible seeing as they announced 1 on Monday & it fits in with previous Sony sensor/Nikon new camera announcements.
The 12Mp FF Nikon sensor seems to be less so - there are rumours that Sony can either upscale the new sensor or that they also have an FF in development though (it's noticeable that a no. of Sony's announced new lenses are FF & why do that if you are only going to make APS-C bodies? ... ).
Hopefully it'll all be settled tomorrow.
