Indeedy, those ISO/AF point specs seem more like paper "wins" to me, so far, nothing has come close to touching the Canon bodys for low noise/high ISO performace, and I do suppose if Nikon start getting a little close for comfort it might force Canon to drop the prices a little quicker :)
And if Nikon really kick ass with new models, it may even force Canon to update their models faster than the 18 month cycle we have had over the past few years.

Perhaps they will with the lower end consumer models (300/350/400D), but I can't really see them changing the prosumer/pro product cycle any time soon..
The D3 is real :D It's announce today all over the web, cant wait to see reviews coming out. Apparently the CMOS sensor is a Nikon design
Yup, dpreview has it's preview up for both of them (and the two new Canons), but they're little more than tarted up press releases at the mo..

canon has always spanked nikon in terms of noise at higher iso...that the new nikons are native 200iso makes me wonder why. the d200 was 100iso...
yeah, have to wait for the reviews on the noise..
but the D300 does 8fps @ 12.3mpix when attached to an external powere supply or using a special battery pack! - wonder if this will bring the price of the 1D MIIn down in price?

Nope, the D3 only do 11fps @ 5Mpx and the D300 do 8fps with the battery grip, which is quite common. And the 40D do 8fps too IIRCQuote:

Yip. 6fps until the buffer is full, then 3fps after that i believe.
Just read on the DPReview Preview of the D3 that is had dual CF slots with UDMA. Very neat if you ask me. Load it up with a couple of 8gig Extreme IV cards i think :)
well, not much more to add until official reviews done but basically we've moved up a gear in the dSLR technology this year for pro and 'pro-sumer' level cameras. can't complain, means all the current and pretty awesome gear is going to come down in price :)
oh just read that if you want to shoot 14bit RAW on the Nikon, your limited to 2.5fps! how sucky is that!!

well they seem to have gotten their act together with ISO now..
the D300 ISO3200 is nearly on par with my 20D :)
