You really can't go wrong with a Canon. The optics are probably the best at consumer level. I had a Powershot A60 for some years that gave me some supbern shots, but a couple of months ago it died, so I got a Fuji S5700 (needed it deperately and opted for 10x optical). It's a great camera although optics clearly are not to the standard of the Canon.
