Yes I read this yesterday. Very excited - I think this will be my next camera. It could be pricey compared with the 400D especially with a 17-85 lens. I'm actually tempted by the battery grip.

Europe Prices are €749 (£560) Body only and €849 (£635) Kit with 18-55mm IS Lens.
The Digital Rebel XSi is expected to ship in April.

Those are the ist price though, I'd expect it to be about the same as the 400D if not straight away, then pretty soon after release.
Still want a 40D mind.
Maybe it'll have enough prosumer features to persuade people to opt for the 450 over the 40D, thus putting pressure on retailers to drop the price of the 40D to make it more appealing. [ /dreaming]

either that or the 40D price remains high because people are opting for the 450D as up upgrade to the 350D (two revisions is actually a tempting upgrade) and the volumes of the 40D are lower than they would have been, meaning less economies of scale.

yup i see the price dropping as soon as retailers have sold of remaining stocks of 400D's, the price has already dropped over 10% since christmas.

The Digital Rebel is the US name for the entry level Canons.
I'm not really sure why they give it a name in the US, all the other bodys are numbered just like the rest of the world.
300D = Digital Rebel
350D = Digital Rebel XT
400D = Digital Rebel XTi
450D = Digital Rebel XSi

I really confused a guy in B&H Photo Video in NYC last year.Had no idea what a 350D was.
Actually comes from the Entry level SLR... I have a 300 Rebel at home. So make it digital, and what do you get? a Digital Rebel. Its the Yank name for the 300+ SLR's.
