Recommend me a Digital Camera for under £100
My mum needs a new digital camera.
She previously had an HP M417, but water damaged it when caught in a rain storm.
She is saying she wants one that takes normal rechargable AA batteries because she uses it so much she carries around half a dozen spare batteries - but maybe not needed if an intergrated battery would last 3 times as long as rechargable AAs?
She would miss having a view finder because she complains about not being able to see the screen out in the sun.
As for pixels... 5mp would be fine for her... if there's a decent camera for well under £100 she would be happy.

How much control does she want over taking the pictures?

Olympus used to do a range that were waterproof ..... in the sense of rain, not going scuba diving with it. I don't know if they still do, or what they cost (it used to be sub-£100 in 35mm days, 'cos I bought one - superb little camera with fantastic lens, too) but it might be worth a look.

Here's a couple of alternative options:
Samsung's 8.2MP S85 (around £70) - or 8.1MP NV8 (around £90).
Or the 7.1MP Fuji FinePix S5700 (around £80)... or 9.3MP Fuji FinePix A920 - just £78.60 from Scan

While Ebuyer are flogging the Samsung S630 for £44.99, Argos have a selection of cheap digicams, and they are very good about returned items.
I think the really cheap branded (Kodaks, Samsungs etc.) digicams do tend to use 2xAAs (thus you aren't paying for a Li-ion battery), but the performance and size savings you get from Li-ion cannot be ignored.
