recommend me a camera please

Parents have suddenly decided that they want a camera so i need some help with which one to go for

easy to use digital compact, what do you recommend?

as a general rule for small pocket digicams i always advise ppl to get the best sony or canon(pref) they can afford

i am on my third canon super small digicam and love them to bits (sony really annoys as they dont use feneric sd card)

i have a superzoom as well (panasonic fz28) which i have just bought and dithered long and hard in choosing this over the bulkier, heavier, raw mode (and poorer quality lens) canon sx10 - though for lots of ppl the canon would be better (hot shoe, twist screen, better default setup for colour/sharpness)

if i didnt need video i would buy entru dslr which would be sony alpha 200 and the long zoom lens (as well as std kit lens)
