    Need a new Digital Camera

I had a happy snapper camera i used to use for night outs and things but its finally given up and died (mainly due to the abuse it took at festivals etc) i wasnt too bothered as it was cheap at the time and i have got a lot of use out of it

I bought a Fuji S2000HD but tbqh the image quality was pretty poor even after extensive tinkering with the settings and the auto focus was just daft Im pretty dissapointed as its a nice looking camera with some decent features but its going back asap.

I have decided im going to get something decent as a replacement but im not really sure where to look or what to get so i was hoping you guys could have some suggestions for me.

    Budget is around £200

    - some manual adjustment of shutterspeed and exposure
    - ability to manual focus of some kind (if possible)
    - HD 720 recording (if possible)
    - Changable ISO settings

Have seen a couple of reports of canon G9s cheap
    http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/30633...-97-pcworld-s/

For the money nothing will beat this deal, just a struggle to find one.

I can recommend the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35.
    Main Features are:-
    10.1 MegaPixel CCD
4x Leica Optical Zoom Lens (35mm equiv. 25-100mm)
    4x Digital Zoom (16x combined)
    2.5 Inch LCD
HD Movie Recording and Playback (Normal and Widescreen) with Sound
    Optical Image Stabiliser
    Lithium Ion Rechargeable Battery
    SD Memory Card Storage
    Multiple Scene Modes
You can get it for around £150

    Enthusiast compact cameras group review:
    http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q408enthusiastgroup/

The Panasonic LX3 wins that, and also records 720 movies, but might be on the pricey side.

Well the highly recommended cameras are a bit cheaper - Panasonic TZ5 and canon SX110is - the former does 720 vids too.

Depending on the scenes, you might be able to effectively do the same things you'd do with manual anyway - for eg. I mostly use aperture priority, but I could just use 'portrait' scene for large aperture, 'landscape' for small etc. which covers the extremes - anything less than the extremes doesn't really have any effect on small sensor cameras. Night mode = slow-sync. Action = shutter speed priority, and so on. You do have exposure compensation though, which is the most useful control.

The SX110 has full manual controls though if you really wanted it, but only VGA movie.
