    Playing with my new Camera

So after much faffing about, mostly because I rather liked my friends canon, I did the obvious thing and spent more than I was originally planning, and brought a Pentax.

Armed with a 16-50 f2.8, I started walking round London whilst waiting for a friend of mine. There was some commotion on London Bridge and I was able to snap this:

Starting to really like the lense, it was kind of the reason i went for the pentax, after spending a couple of hours playing with all sorts of combinations (and been told how i was using them wrong ) I settled on this combo, the quality of an inside low light shot at 400 iso is really quite amazing, and the anti shake and I seam to get along well.

    I think i'll start trawling ebay, manual 50mm 1.4 with a K fitting can be found for < £50!

is it just me thinking that if you photoshop in some smoke around the tyres it will look like he's doing a powerslide. maybe add some skidlines too.

    and blue flames!

not bad, next time zoom out to a wider angle, so you've got plenty of space around the moving subject, then you can crop it afterwards so everything's in frame properly

Hope to see you posting in photo of the day thead!

    Yup.

We where down by butlers wharf (a pub that serves Sign of Spring) taking photo's of the gherkin, my friend had his tripod and his 300mm lense set up, when an RNLI boat turned up, and started circling under london bridge, then the police launch turned up, and we figured it must be a jumper, so we turned the tripod 90° and waited patiently, after nothing happened for about 15 min, we decided to walk down towards westminster. On london bridge there where so many police (2 vans, 1 panda car, and that pursuit car).

Whilst watching to try and find out what happened, the pursuit car driver leaps in, i thought that would make a good photo (it really didn't), then because he was facing the wrong way he did a rather swift, fast turn, with the blues n twos on. It was kind of like car ballet!

So as for speed, not that fast at all, about 20mph.
