    Compact Digital camera recommendation

I'm after a compact digital camera which uses AA batteries as opposed to a proprietary Li-ion battery back. It doesn't have to be the best on the market or anything since I have a decent DSLR and I don't really want to spend more than about £150. I've been reading reviews but there's just too many to choose from so if anyone knows a bit more about the compact camera market or has a camera they could recommend that would be great. Here's a few I've found so you know the kind of thing I'm looking for: 1 2 3 4 5.
    Thanks

I have used the A590 and it is a nice camera and has more manual control than the models it was replaced by!!

Watercooled: purely accedotal, my parents have been using two Canon PowerShots (an A75 and a smaller one) for at least 5 years and they keep on trucking. Great chuck around cameras, if I remember rightly a lot of the better A's support adaptors for zoom and wide angle converters.

    Re: Compact Digital camera recommendation

I've just noticed your avatar changes colour . Bah there were 2 A590s for sale on Amazon yesterday but they only have 1 refurbished one left now for about the same price. Amazon is recommending the A1100 as a newer model - any idea how it compares?

    Re: Compact Digital camera recommendation

I am not sure, the 4 digit Canon's just don't get the same love as the 3 digits (A570, A590, a620 etc).
They offer less manual modes and the higher MP sensors don't sound like they produce the goods in the same way.

p.s. colours, I am very indecisive so I couldn't decide on one colour so I choose three. Kinda reflects me

Seconded. I have an A70 and A720is and they're both still going and producing excellent images.
