I'm going up to Scotland in a couple of weeks, and I'll be taking in some dolphin watching in Inverness. Basically I'm wondering what precautions I should take against my kit getting splashed. Any other general tips for this sort of trip would be appeciated as well.
Don't dress up as a herring
You could have a plastic bag handy ready to put over the camera if you spot a splash. Otherwise there's not much to do other than only take the camera out when you need it.. and don't worry about splashes too much - a killer whale completely soaked my (non weather sealed) SLR when I was in San Diego - the metal screws rusted but that was the only damage.
If you're worried about a delicate coating on a lens then consider a clear filter perhaps?
given how nasty sea spray is to clean a good UV/Skylight might be an idea.
I'd recommend the Hoya Pro, it doesn't add too much crap on my wide, and isn't too expensive either.

Cheers guys, I had similar ideas (herring costumes excepted), will try knocking up a bag/filter combo before I go.
