Well, borrowed a 70-200 f2.8L IS for a week for £69 and zero issues, couldn't really fault them.

sounds good, just worried with renting that they will say you "broke or damaged" the rental while using it.

Well lens rentals are pretty big in other places, the guy that runs lensrentals.com also does canonrumours.com. I guess there is a chance of a rental company trying to blame you for damage, just like there is for car rental companies, but they usually come with insurance too.
