I've recently started taking pictures at airports, with some pleasing results. I'm planning a trip to get some sunset and full darkness shots. However, not having done this before, I was wondering if anyone had any tips.

tripod helps - but you might get in trouble for using one close to an airport..
or just crank the ISO

Maybe a Stinger, or perhaps SA-18
Ho ho Kalniel, I don't want any visits early in the morning.
Cheers Bob, I think a tripod might be hard for takeoffs and as you say, popping it up next to my usual crash gate might raise some eyebrows. I was thinking more on whether I need to get creative with settings to get lit silhouettes rather than seeing the whole plane, if you know what I mean. High ISO is not fun on my 450D I've found.
Oh and thanks for the Royal Mail plane, I've just got shot of that place for the day . Which airport was that taken at?
Make sure you shave your beard and take off skull cap ....
That picture with the royal mail plane is fake no way royal mail has anything that can deliver mail that quick

Its only Royal Mail on this side, it says Ryanair on the other.
