Am very tempted by the 550D with kit lens, he wants £380, aiming for less.
If he won't budge at all, then I may just wait and see if anything nicer comes up.

And so is that the camera you'd recommend?
Over the D3100 with 18-105 for £365 and the Pentax k-r with 18-55 for £340?

If I was un able to cheapily/easily try the pentax, I'd just take hte Nikon at that price, most Nikon users I know rate the 18-105 as a great starter lens espesually if you use the lightroom corrections!

That's one of the downsides of the D3100 as far as I'm aware, no in body AF, so the lenses will be more expensive :/

No they won't be - all modern cameras (Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax, Olymus etc.) use lenses with motors in them. It's only very old lenses that don't, none of which you will need to buy.Quote:

Looks like Pentax is out of it purely because I haven't had a chance to try one, and out of the three I know least about it, been recommended it least etc :/
Haha, found that video more annoying than anything, since it confirmed the general feel I've been getting which is either would be a good choice :P
