    Re: Tough Camera?

Seriously - just grab any of the old Olympus Camedias off ebay, or the Sony as mentioned. I modify these to infrared so am fairly well conversant with their inards and the Sony is built like a little brick outhouse The best of the Camedias would be a C3040 or c4040, solid metal chassis, 4x AA, 3x optical and 3 or 4MP resp. For battery life, I use a small lead acid on a belt, mine is a 7Ah one for the Olympus and it lasts forever

Also the Sony is easy to dismantle for getting sand out of the inards !
    Cheers, David

    Re: Tough Camera?

The Lumix FT 3 and Olympus TG-10 are great choices for tough cameras. I do some party photography and we have these to hand out to the guests. Dead simple to use and really, really tough. Waterproof to I think 3 metres too.

If you're looking for a dSLR, you're going to have to spend a lot, basically. I use Camera Armor on my 5D2 and it makes me less nervous about using it in tough situations, but it still wouldn't survive a fall onto a concrete surface.
