Nikon launches the entry level D3200.......with a 24MP sensor!!
More details here:

If this is the same sensor as in the NEX7 and A77 it is not as good in low light as the 16MP sensor previously used. Considering a lot of people seem to get low end dSLRs for improved low light image performance and autofocusing, I don't know why they Nikon did not use the latest version of the 16MP sensor. Most will be using lower end lenses which are not wide aperture anyway and it will test the limits of anything but perfect glass IMHO.
I suppose this will make a relatively cheap camera if you are interested in landscape photography!!:p
Here are sample pictures with the kit lens:

MP = MHZ with PC's and they sell cameras Cat  - I wonder if the iphone 5 will enter double figures................ probably
I personally have temporarily taken a MP sabatical and am far more comfortable and get many more keepers from a 12mp d700 than a 16mp d7000 !! So any more pixel density frightens me:)

I have hit a 10MP plateau with both Sony A200 and Canon S95!! :p

The S95 is quite a nice compact - I am quite tempted to get the grip for it:

There is a lower profile S100 grip too:

See your 10MP and lower it to 6MP, my D70 :)
My other Nikon is the good old D200, and TBH I cant see me swapping it out just yet :)
(not until my divorce settlement comes anyway :) )

The D70 was my first DSLR - great camera, sounds like you might be looking at a D700 when the smoke clears ;)
Re: Nikon launches the entry level D3200.......with a 24MP sensor!!
Dont want to go full frame due to the lenses I have, but something has to give when Im rich :)
Re: Nikon launches the entry level D3200.......with a 24MP sensor!!
If you're set up for cropped frame, stick with that. There's loads of great glass for the cropped format now and it seems like it's here to stay. The cropped cameras are more compact and there's even some great wideangle lenses available now. The only place you'll see a difference is in depth of field/bokeh in photos using lenses >50mm.

DCRP has reviewed it:

It looks like the D5100 is less noiser:

Maybe, with some downsizing the pictures in low light will appear better.
