I recently when to a trip to my first visit in the states and brought my new 5d3 with me testing it to its limits at times for its ISO capabilities and its AF system and i can say that 80% of my shots if not more where bang on focus even when using the nifty fifty and i also grabbed a few high ISO shots at 12800 that look clean and usable!

This thread will contain a crap load of photos as i took 2k worth of pics, cherry picked 500 and i am currently PPing them(only a 1/4 away done so far!) and will try and post the best ones on the web.

expect maybe 50 pics if not more by the end of this thread and will keep it up to date and numbered.

CC are welcome as well.

I like the sharpness of these, but something funky is going on with the colours, there's a weird cast to several of the pics, and vignetting? Hope that was a post process effect rather than you having a problem with your lens.

You don't like the pp? What about the pp done on the bold shuttle rockets? Imo it fits nicely with the theme hehe but other then that. Is the framing and composition ok?

There are vignette due to me using the nifty fifty wide open on a 5d3.

i also sometimes add it myself.

The PP isn't to my tastes, but if you like it then that's cool - tastes are subjective I like the composition of shots 1, 8 and 16.

I'm trying to figure out why you've got the sensor reflection in shot 2 - were you using a filter in front of the lens?

na no filter infront of the lens.

i bought some cokin p filters for ND and graduate ones but did not use it much

Agree you need to be very selective with the PP 'hipster' filters; very easy to start slapping it on everything and before you know it you've disappeared into the bottomless pit of Instagram-togs.

Probably just re-reflection off the back of the lens then - I don't know if that lens has anti-reflective coatings to help, but I guess with a large and shiny sensor and that bright light source it'd be hard to avoid.

hehe indeed but its a nice cheap lens! i am saving up for a 24L and then a 50L later down the line

i like primes! my only zoom lens will be the magical 70-200f2.8 mk2 lens
