Pentax MX-1 hands-on preview

Pentax has just launched a high end compact after an absence of many years:

However,is it me or do the lens look remarkably similar?? The coatings are different but the appearance of the barrel and the specifications look identical.

If Pentax are offering Oly lenses then that's a pretty good thing Would still prefer the Oly XZ-2 though I expect.

It seems both the lenses on the XZ1 and the MX1 have the same number of elements arranged in the same way:

I wonder if a common OEM is behind both designs?? OTH,an Olympus lens with the Pentax SMC coating does not sound too bad TBH!

A number of websites are listing the MX-1 as having a 1/8000 shutter speed.

They look different enough to me! Bound to get some similarities.
