    Picture Merging

Was hoping to do some layer and mask work as have not done this in years. I have quite a lot of old photo software P.S.P. up to Coral X also copy of cs2 somewhere but was looking for something lite, not cs6 or gimp etc . Elements 11 should be able to do photo merging and I can get a bundle including Premiere Elements for about 60 g.b.p. Whilst looking around I found some software by 'on one' - Perfect layers 2 (free) so thought that I would try it. Eventually found it buried on another free program 'Perfect Elements 4 '. Downloaded this only to find that it would not work with X.P which was on the 'caddy' I had jacked in at the time, so will have to download again using Win 7. Wondered if anyone had used Adobe Elements 11 or Perfect Layers 2 for photo merging also is Video edit program Premier Elements any good.

You could try Paint.Net it is basic, but has layers, masking and merging. It's also free.
