Ricoh GR Digital APS-C compact(world's smallest camera with an APS-C sensor)
Re: Ricoh GR Digital APS-C compact(world's smallest camera with an APS-C sensor)
Woh, who the hell would buy a Coolpix after seeing that! It trounces it at wide aperture.
It will be interesting I think, to see how the face of photography changes again with the introduction of more of these premium quality compacts.
Ultimately, at a print of 10 inches or less, I doubt anyone will tell the difference. As sensor tech just keeps marching on, it will be interesting to see how much more creative and elegant people can get because they always have a quality camera ready.

Quite a narrow market with the fixed lens though, don't think it's going to drive much of a change in photography.
Interchangeable lens cameras are getting close to this size though as well.

Not APC-S ones kalniel.
Also compare the size of them, this is tiny, can carry it in a coat pocket easily.
In the same way we had a bunch of people who went on about how film was always better, we've seen such a revolution in low cost to run photography and amazing low light stuff that was never before remotely possible.
Sadly I think there is a cult of collector attitude, the your-not-a-pro-without-a full frame brigade (who strange ignore medium!).
But these people will keep producing the same old, same old, fine for studio and wedding stuff, not good for the interesting stuff.
How many times have most of us here seen amazing things, but not had a camera of quality that could capture it?
Cameras like these will allow people who don't want the bulk of a DSLR to have a really good quality set up. I've often said people should shun kit lenses when buying a new body, get the cheapest body and two good primes!
Sure its not going to do for everyone, but it will be different, and from the preview the quality looks great. It will be interesting to compare it to an entry level DSLR and prime.
