    Software to organise photo collection?

    Hi folks,

I've just completed my random backup of my phone/camera pics and noticed I now have 9,000 images (exactly, weird)....probably not a lot compared to some of you but for just personal/random pics it's not bad

I have them kinda arranged in folders already, i.e. Holiday 2012, Christmas 2011 but there are a lot of 'phone backup Sept 2013' style folders with random pics from random times that aren't in any sort of order.

I'd like some software enabling me to edit the data, add tags, move them into folders etc. - I'd like to do this at at least a file-name level and then pop them in named folders. Obviously this won't all be done in one go so something that would let me work through them a bit at a time is a must!

    Can anyone recommend anything ?

    Cheers!

    Rob

I'm with Bob, I use picasa to sort my collection, you will have to move files from one folder to the next to get rid of the dodgy mobile backups but once it's done you can sync online.

I also use lightroom to import into folders, year and month per device.

I quite like using iPhoto to organize all my photos.

Windows live photo gallery thing I quite liked, because it embeds all the metadata, such as faces in to the image file, supports my obscure pentax RAW format, the face tagging works fairly well.

But tbh now I just archive on my PC, then to the HDD then the NAS then crypted to the cloud, my colo'd server.
