Re: Photo canvas printing
Printing on canvas changes the picture quite a bit, certain colours change, the fabric pattern often makes contrasting lines look different, do you mind posting the photo up?
The reason I'm saying is that for a wall decoration a perspex or similar backed large print might be better?

Re: Photo canvas printing
i use these guys - they're local to me, but can deliver - however they're not cheap, but their product imo is better than any canvas i bought before using them!
they can also do custom sizes..
Re: Photo canvas printing
Thanks for the suggestion, might see if there is anybody local to me that does it so I can go in and have a chat.
Re: Photo canvas printing
I used these guys: http://www.thecanvasprintstudio.co.uk/ and was pleased with the results. Good colour match for the source.
Re: Photo canvas printing
I have used these http://www.point101.com/ - very reasonable price and extremely happy with the result - far better than the local print shop or supermarket result.
Re: Photo canvas printing
Well it's good because I was worried it would be the kind of shot that doesn't really like fabric printing!
What often happens is colours are under saturated, washed out so to speak. Blacks, things that should be sharp and black become a dark purple.
The texture of the fabric invades the picture, this can be a good thing or a bad thing, myself I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate it when people do that with portraits. But for anything that has a sky, with any characturistics, it works quite well. On paper the 'whiteness' can be quite bland and boring, but the fabric gives it something else.
The water, I dare say will loose some of it's sharp relief, but that won't matter.
I wouldn't worry too much about the quality of the print out, as there isn't much demanding in terms of colour fidelity. I would find something that is cheap, with a good "if it's crap, I'm not paying" service.
Re: Photo canvas printing
Cheers all, have ordered a cheap one to get an idea what it looks like. Think I will have a look for a local lab that can do the other stuff.
Re: Photo canvas printing
i used tesco lol. came out decent
Re: Photo canvas printing
I used PhotoBox to get three square canvas prints done - I was really pleased with the result, definition and colours were really very good. IIRC, they have good high quality canvas options, too.
Customer service there was similarly as good: There was a magenta/pink mark down one canvas, which I complained about to a CS rep via their online tool. They reprinted and sent to me via next day delivery all for no cost and quibble. :)
Re: Photo canvas printing
Sounds good will consider them next time. I ended up ordering from orbitprint and I have to say that I am very happy with the end result, it ended up costing about £26.
