And yet they took it down when you first contacted them...

TBH it's easier for them to bury their heads in the sand and wait for you to get legal. That way, if the legal letter drops on their doorstep then can remove. But until then, they are betting on you not spending the few hundred quid it'll cost to send them a letter.

Have you directly written to the firm, to the secretary or the director, with recorded delivery? If not, now is the time.
If yes, write again, explaining you've not heard back, and that you will be going to small claims if they do not pay the invoice.

Just take a photo of the photo. Job done.

Just spoke to the guy I rang previously who said it had been passed to whoever could deal with that, not much more info, I asked to be updated and kept in the loop so we'll see how that goes. Maybe give it another week then start with the pre legal letters.

+1. I'd suggest that they've had plenty of time to deal with this.
Or at the very least ask to speak directly to the guy who could deal with this - get a name and contact details and inform him that you'll be commencing legal proceedings in X days if you don't hear back.
An interesting and almost laughable response received today, funny how mentioning you'd like this settled before the week ends otherwise you will take further action spurs people into replying!
I'd genuinely hate to be someone who's livelyhood depends on people paying for images if this is the standard of response you get.

The worst of it is that if they come across an image and it is a hobbiest if they'd just contacted you and said "we'd like to use your image: we'll credit you and pay you £100 for your troubles" then it'd probably have been fine. Because they're being scumbags about it I suspect it's going to cost them more money and could well earn them some bad publicity (have you thought about contacting the local press?)
