Broken camera - any tips?
I went to use my Samsung L700 earlier today and noticed there was no shutter click when taking photos, and the photos have a strange interlaced look (see photo below).
I don't suppose anyone knows of this problem, and if there's a way to fix it? It's quite a few years old and is my 'desk' camera - one I keep on my desk for photographing random stuff mainly.
Here's a paper target, just something with good contrast to show the effect.

Samsung have a UK repair facility

Might be worth contacting them.
Re: Broken camera - any tips?
I think it will be well out of any warranty period, searching around it seems to be a circa '07 model.

True, but that doesn't mean it isn't repairable, although the cost may well exceed the monetary value of the camera.
Re: Broken camera - any tips?
I'll give it a try if self-repair doesn't seem likely. Unless it's close to free though I suspect I'd be better off just replacing it.
Re: Broken camera - any tips?
Does it look distorted on the screen before taking the photo? Wonder if its a focus issue.
Re: Broken camera - any tips?
No it looks normal before capturing it. I'm thinking it might be something mechanical due to that missing click - it's now silent on taking photos.
Re: Broken camera - any tips?
Have a look in the front and take a picture, if it has a manual mode set it for a long exposure, does anything move. Sound like a stuck shutter, think you are going to have to dig out the screwdrivers.
To be honest you haven't got a lot to lose if it does all go wrong, just looked on ebay and you can pickup a used replacement for £28. Or pickup an end of line bargain new for £100. If it was my camera it would be screwdriver time
Re: Broken camera - any tips?
Yeah it does seem like a stuck shutter - I managed to get it to 'work' again temporarily just pressing it over and over. I'm not sure if it was just co-incidence but it seemed more likely to work when horizontal. However the photos still had that distortion, and the shutter has just stopped working again.
