Hi folks, I got my lovely new lens today but immediately noticed the noise when trying to focus, I thought this was abnormal but then I've found another video that has the same trouble, is this a noisy lens? (ignore the fact it doesn't focus, I was really close)

Sounds perfectly normal to me. All my lenses make similar focusing noises on video, I don't think there's much you can do other than manually focus or use an external mic so vibrations aren't transferred through the camera.
Really? Its not just on video but is noticable all of the time. The kit lens is nowhere near this level of noise? :(

standard cheap geared lens noises..
You do get what you pay for, so some areas are a compromise.
Although you think that's bad you should hear a Canon plastic fantastic on full chat!
